also I just want so say, I don't think EBT for kitchen stuff like rice cookers is as bad as people make it out to be, and I think people spazing about it are fucking autistic
I'd say just GIVE anyone who wants a rice cooker one.
Why don't the republicans go for the optical win and force democrats to filibuster SNAP payments? Isn't that an option if the CR has fewer than 60 votes? That would be the most hilarious outcome.
They already have. It's hard to do that when the fake news won't cover it and instead lies about it so that most people think Trump somehow unilaterally did this (well at least the people most likely to jog to their nearest Wal-Mart).

Its fucking crazy that federal judges are decided whether to jump into the fight on ebt and demand political solutions and resolutions. The political arm of the government is debating ebt funding but judges can just decide what, that ebt is a fundamental right under our constitution?

All judges are traitors and should be ousted.
We really are barrelling closer and closer to even moderates giving up on caring what federal judges rule.

It’s like watching a terrorist take a hostage threatening to kill them if they don’t get what they want. Except the Democrats figured out a way to turn the EBT recipients into both the hostage and the weapon to hurt innocent people. It’s fucking evil and it feels like negotiating with them would be no different from negotiating with a terrorist.

As fun as it is to say, this is the most retarded frequently used quote online. Things are always happening, to all sorts of people. You can only say that because nothing major enough happens in your realm of current experience.
a happening would be something that suddenly and violently shifts the status quo in a new direction. the week of march 2020 when covid started fucking everything was a happening. the big funny on january 6 was a happening. the start of the russia-ukraine slapfest was a happening. israel-gaza as well. kirk was almost a happening but unfortunately nothing significant seems to have come of that.
cutting off the free money to millions around the country? potential happening.

We're living through this meme right now.

My point still stands then. Things DO happen, just rarely it seems, not never. It’s a shame the Kirk incident wasn’t a happening, we needed that a lot more than the shit back then with George droid

Right, but this will affect the profits of supermarkets, which will result in layoffs, and possibly (if this continues for too long) even collapses of supermarket chains.

No benefits will have a knock on effect on the whole economy.
You are a grocery store. You are a retail store and have a built-in clientele of local shoppers with a steady and constant demand for your product. Your customers buy your product and use it several times a day. Your customers feel like they would die without your product. Most of your customers buy and consume too much of your product. The majority of your product has built-in obsolescence and will become useless if not used within days, weeks, or months after purchase. Your product is not an asset, and will never appreciate in value after sold to a customer. Your product cannot be pirated and distributed for free online.

Adobe would cum buckets if they could achieve a fraction of that.

So what does my local grocery store do with all the money I gave them? They reduced staff and closed checkout lanes. They purchased more self-checkout terminals. They no longer hire grocery baggers, and insist you bag your own groceries. They bought new grocery carts with built-in cup holders. None of this adds value to me, the customer, and yet prices continue to increase.

The biggest waste of money is this fucking niggerbot built by the aptly named Badger Industries (A).

This piece of shit robot occupies floor space and slowly patrols the store while constantly getting in your way. Its only function (so far) is to detect spills and debris on the floors. Does it clean the floors after it notices a problem? No. When this piece of shit detects a problem, it'll stop and prevent you from walking around it. Then it begins to page for a human to come cleanup the mess over the store speakers "Cleanup needed in aisle 8". If an employee does not immediately respond, it'll repeat itself every 15 seconds in an infinite loop. "Cleanup needed in aisle 8.... Cleanup needed in aisle 8... Cleanup needed in aisle 8..."

My grocery store deserves to go out of business and I hope EBT is the final nail in the coffin.

As we wait with baited breath to see if EBTmageddon goes down or it Nothing Ever Happens, I'd like to thank the posters posting meltdowns and actually useful information, and the jannies for being such good sports about highlighting them.

I think of it more like Blazing Saddles.

It is weird that we as a society just openly accept that black people are monkeys yet we still allow them the same rights and treat them as "equals". Like its just openly accepted there going to chimp out because how dare we not give them free food. I think this is an opportunity to call it out once and for all. The stores that are hiring security are smart but target and Walmart cant then around and pretend "were all equal" and sell faggoty rainbow shirts afterwards.
it's literal christian ethics. if we believed in a barbarian religion, we'd have a caste system.

It won't be a massive chimp out right away on day 1. It'll probably be a lot of small thefts at first, ramping up as the month continues.
It's not like these people don't have food in their cupboards. Most of them will hold out and hope that their EBT will be funded in a week or two.
The longer it goes on though the more likely we are to see riots and looting.

I haven't heard of anything about rioting from a flesh and blood person. all this shit seems to be on tiktok. various governors are allocating millions for food banks and the jake tapper is on cnn saying the DEMS are fucking up the food, and Hawley from MO is pushing 2 different funding bills. I'm expecting a resolution to snap on nov 3rd because the shutdown isn't working in the dems favor anymore.

I don't expect any rioting. instacart is giving away a 50% discount on the next ebt grocery store purchase. you had to have used an ebt card in october to qualify, ontop of all the local support going on. there'll be videos of people meltingdown in foodbank lines. anyone pulling a smash and grab at the grocery store is a crook selling the stolen shit on the streets using snap as a cover.

its upsetting that one of the wealthiest countries in the world is on the brink of increasing hunger for 41 million people

As a former grocery bagger, I am ok with this. The current crop of baggers don’t know how to do it correctly. If I set up the belt perfectly, with everything sorted according to how it should be bagged, they still do it wrong.

I’d rather scan-and-bag myself. It’s faster. I still know all the PLUs. Everything is sorted and bagged correctly. As a bonus, I always make the mistake of selecting zero bags inadvertently avoiding the 5¢/bag tax.

No. Christian ethics have existed for centuries. It’s jewish subversion of language. The definition of people is too broad.

I HATE these fucking things. I've been jumpscared by them more than once. They move very quietly, you turn around and suddenly those big googly eyes are just drilling into your skull, into your soul.

When i worked as a grocer they had us watch this information video from headquarters that spells out how to pack grocery bags properly. Nowadays it seems like they shredded all of the dvds.
