Hope it's better than the base game, but I'm not paying $40 for a dlc
I imagine the expansion is 20-25 hours long based on the price.
I don't care what you faggots rate my posts, releasing a GOTY version with the DLC content as a voucher instead of on the disc is niggardly and Jewish.
If you didn’t care you wouldn’t have written this.

Yeah $40 is a lot for DLC but as long as it delivers I won't complain. I probably won't be getting it right away anyway.

I pussied out from fighting Malenia in the base game but might suck it up and try the new boss that's said to be on the same level as her.

Calling it now, Messmer is Miquella's Radagon. He followed Marika to the land of shadows to learn how she divided herself.
St. Trina is Miquella's "other half". Considering dividing oneself seems to result in an opposite sex person, could it of been Melania?

Tinfoil hat Teim!

What if, Messmer is actually Ranni? She did fuck around with Destined Death, and not only cast off her Great Rune, but also worked to sever the hold the Two Fingers have on her. Which I think would definitely qualify her as somebody who's forsaken/lost the Grace of Gold.

Also, and this is just me grasping at straws, the moon is often associated with illusions, illusions that could keep one, mesmerized?

Though personally I think it's just a corrupted Miquella.

From what I've heard, we are getting TEN+ new bosses with this DLC, and EIGHT new weapon types. Not weapons. Types. This is looking to be one expansive DLC.
It seems fairly girthy, which is good to see. I was honestly getting worried it would be TOO big with how long the dev cycle is. 40 bucks is a big price tag but if it can get me 15-20 hours that's plenty, Elden Ring is already really fucking long, I don't really want 100+ more hours.

Now that people have figured out how to cheese waterfowl with sleep and frost pots she's significantly less bullshit.

I am hoping that the new super boss isn't quite as cheap as her. Take away her bullshit 1hit kill move and you have a fun but not too retardedly difficult fight.
Though personally I think it's just a corrupted Miquella.
I am actually leaning towards it being a totally new character, unrelated to anyone else in that way.

I just really hope the Godwyn stuff isn't left unaddressed. I thought death blight taking hold of the Erdtree was going to be the premise but now I'm not so sure. I really want a chance to fight some version of Godwyn. Maybe Messmer is Godwyn?

AFAIK, all the St. Trina = Miquella stuff was cut content. In the extant version of the game, there's nothing linking the two other than implications left behind by the cut.

I also don't think the opposite sex thing is a given, Marika specifically wanted to make a consort. Perhaps all Miquella wanted was to not be the Eternal Twink.

I do like the thought of Opposite Ranni, though. We'll know you're right if Messmer directly explains what's going on in clear language, the most anti-Ranni behavior possible.

It's 60gb according to the Steam page, same size as the base game so it seems like there's a fuckton of content.

Agreed, going off the Miyazaki interview and the trailer's description, I think he's a previously unknown demigod son of Marika and Radagon, he went to the Land of Shadow with Marika and conquered it, then stayed there for whatever reason instead of participating in the events of the Shattering.

The whole characters splitting into multiple people thing is a pretty recurring theme. Marika and Radagon. Malenia and her 5 daughters.
It's sort of like not multiplying your strength by becoming multiple people but separating the undesirable aspects and transferring them to another person. Radagon probably only inherited all of the Golden Order loyalty Marika once had, giving her the determination to actually betray the Golden Order and shatter the Elden ring. Millicent probably inherited all of the pride and self-discipline of Malenia.
one thing I'm sure of is that Miquella has totally given up on his tree..

i feel like the art style of the DLC is slightly different from the base game. I'm not sure what the cause of this is, though, it could be the use of AI when designing and making character models, it could be because GRR Martin is no longer involved in creative decisions (I doubt this is it) or it could simply be a case of the team behind the DLC being different because it has been so long since they made the base game.

People are complaining about the DLC only adding like 20 to 40 hours of content. for me personally I've already got 1000+ on the base game because i mostly just play the multiplayer. I only wanted more maps and weapons; I don't really care much about the bosses because that's a single-player thing, and you can download more bosses in the form of mods for free if you're that desperate. I really only care about the PVP and the lore. looking forward to it either way.

There might be some fuckery afoot with who is alive, who isn't, and what roles/positions they occupy. While we're tinfoil hatting, I'll dump too.
The "Land of Shadow" could be an alternate timeline - one where the Haligtree wasn't a failure. The "Shadow Erdtree" obviously looks a lot like the Haligtree. I'm not sure how to reconcile Miquella's corpse or whatever existing in the Lands Between while also he also exists in the Shadow Lands unless there's time fuckery. I don't buy the dream angle.
In the trailer, you see the grafted lion's head with human teeth on some guy's body. That might be some other grafter type but it also might be an alternate version of Godrick in a timeline where he wasn't bitchmade according to the lore. A Godrick who killed his father's pet lion and claimed it as his own. Could also be a version of Godfrey who got into grafting. Who knows.
Godwyn is notably absent which I'm not thrilled about either and rate me :optimistic: but I think that he'd make excellent subject matter for another expac. The game has too many loose ends to justify additional content exploring them all and I think that Miquella is a clear first in line but Godwyn is a close second.

In some instances, sleep and death are closely linked, so I don't think Miquella being in two places is too far-fetched. Though if they are going with the whole 'you're in his dream' angle, will any of the DLC really matter to the grand scheme of things? Keeping it a dream is a nice way of allowing crazy shit to happen without it ever affecting the overall story.

But that's a big 'IF', and I think most people would like to see certain things resolved.

Edit: To add some non-story related stuff;

1) With how heavily snakes figure into the main antagonist, will the Serpent Hunter get another time to shine?

2) Wonder what Spirit Ashes/Puppets we'll find. I was disappointed we didn't have a brawler type Ash/Puppet in the main game, wonder if they'll do something like that here?

I was also thinking pre pact Rykard, seems unlikely but definitely has to have some relation. Though being a redhead is a big tell that he has to be linked to Radagon. Maybe he was a third child of Marika and Radagon selfcest but was seduced by the fires of madness and expunged from the record?
Lol, Nameless King 2, Flame Boogaloo

According to some speculation on Reddit (ew) Messmer is apparenlty stated to be a "Child of Marika".
Source: https://www.famitsu.com/news/202402/22335199.html

Translated; The chair that Messmer is sitting on is the same chair that was used in the main story during the battle with "The Abominable King, Morgot," and he is also a being on the same level as Godrick, Malenia, Radahn, Rykard, etc., and is also called "Child of Marika".

I remember when this wasn't known and the expected way to cheese her was rivers of blood with doppleganger. Had I known this little trick I could have fought her honest and used the stupid amount of pots I accumulated. Oh well, someday second play through character will reach her.

Agreed, Miquella is an interesting angle, but I'm a lot more interested on Godwyn, I want to fight a Godwyn in his prime AND after he becomes a merman aberration.

I half jokingly talked about that amber egg, but thinking on how it could have been made had me thinking about if Miquella and Malenia in lore could possibly have been triplets with Messmur, which led to me thinking about how in IVF pregnancies you use multiple eggs to have higher odds of having normal embryos. Or maybe maybe the crucible aspects resulted in Radagon aborting one of his kids out of disgust and trying again gave him twins, or maybe he only wanted twins so they could fuse together like him and Marika and a third candidate was seen as a liability. Maybe even that Messmur's wing was always there and he was stowed away like Morgott and Mohg, because while not an omen he'd still be of the crucible and according to lore any aspect of crucible mutation is despised. Misbegotten Warriors have red hair, doesn't necessarily have to be Radagon because him and the warriors being related is cut content.

Also I skimmed Reddit after Tablet Country's post to see what Vatti's gonna spam out and I saw a Redditor (derogatory) saying there's a spirit outside of Impaler's Catacombs that talks about Marika's unwanted child right outside. You guys think they'll change the Demihuman ashes to some dlc item when it drops? Edit: The catacomb's near Stormveil, an important location for the golden lineage as Godfrey erected it during his campaign in The Lands between... Specifically MARIKA'S unwanted child... The above about the Morgott/Mohg's names starting with M because they're the children that aren't supposed to be known about anyway despite being of the golden lineage... Godefroy/Godrick's lineage unaccounted for as a 'distant descendant, blood diluted' according to Edia and having no answer as to WHO the relation is from... Misbegotten under Stormveil's rule in Castle Mourne... Can't be, that's too stupid. Edit 2: It keeps getting worse, I just realized we never see what Godrick originally looked like and his hair is white like a minor misbegotten and could be one of them, which would also fuel his inferiority complex which led to grafting. I refuse to believe my own words.

For me, Elden Ring was the first souls-like game I ever played. I bought it more then a year after release once it was on sale.
If I knew then what I know now, I would've bought the game on release paying the full price, with no regrets what-so-ever. That is why this time around, I'll get the DLC right away and go in blind.
Another reason being that I have some small regrets. Being unfamiliar with how souls-like games, especially Miyazaki's games, operate, I was confused on several things and I ended up spoiling myself on some things, mainly quests and some early-to-mid dungeon puzzles. Once I got the hang of things and I understood what to expect and how to approach this type of game, I had a blast, but sadly, it was mostly for the last 1/3 of the game.
That is why, with this DLC, armed with knowledge and experience, I will go in blind and discover and enjoy things on my own, without the taint of spoiled information.

I pussied out from fighting Malenia in the base game but might suck it up and try the new boss that's said to be on the same level as her.
I never understood why people were afraid of Malenia that much.
It took me several tries, to figure her patterns, but I managed to beat her.
Why never even try?

All I know is that femboy faggot Miquella will not make me abandon my adorable doll waifu. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: up with the Doll Waifu and down with the femboy fag.
Based smurf enjoyer.

That's a cool theory.
When it comes to Elden Ring lore I'm as autistic as the worst of them.
I'm subscribed to 4 jewtube channels (VaatiVidya / The Tarnished Archaeologist / Kosmos / Zullie the Witch) that all they do is sperg out about the lore and I love every second of it.

I Mesmer is a child of Radagon and Marika I would expect him to have some sort of curse/fucked up trait to him as well. He does have the Frenzied Flame eye but that could be something that comes after, same deal with the whole serpent buddy.
