I've defeated Rykard without the Serpent Killer.
I liked the boss fight. His first phase is pretty simple, dodging it is mostly easy, except when he plants his head in the ground and destroys everything in front of it.
His second phase is pretty easy to dodge as well, but then he makes the lava start exploding and releasing homing skulls that are delayed explosions like a truck. I was only able to defeat him by spaming attacks on his leg when he was distracted and running away once the skulls came in.
In the end, I had fun dying for two hours straight. More fun than Radahn at least.

I hate that I get that.

So, favorite/least favorite area, or just places you liked? My pick would be Siofra and the connecting Eternal Cities, because every time I thought I had seen all of it, the game goes "but wait! There's more!"
Least would be those graves. The hurtbox on those chariots feels a lot bigger than they should, and I didn't like the "dodge the carriage" boss in DaS2.

I saw this one clip of someone who tricked an invader into not quitting by dressing like an NPC and just walking in a small loop for like 5 minutes. It was pretty funny.

Same on both. Two of the hero graves are the only dungeons I didn't explore. They're too loud and they frighten me.
The vantage you get when you first see Azula from the Belfry is pretty sweet too, I'd say it spoils the impact except you never get such a cool view while you're actually in it.
I mildly disliked the foggy mountain stuff (luckily it's brief) which is odd because I usually like games doing that kind of thing. Maybe if it had come earlier before I was starting to run out of juice.

Kinda disappointed you don't get to spend hours suffering in the underground rot swamp. The way through is really clear and you're guaranteed to have cleanse spells by then so it's a huge neat area you jog through in about three minutes. I'm guessing there's some stuff in the corner if you go the wrong way but it's not like you're gonna get lost and wind up there accidentally.

I am not sure why but nokron, specially the area after mimic tear, reminds me a lot of Dark souls 2.
Commander Niall's buddies are vulnerable to Betwitching Branches. Owned

I dunno, I didn't actually use it much besides testing it out a bit. I'm mainly basing this on the speedruns I've watched and they skip the gargs so idk.
I got em by running like fuck until I could focus down the first one. Their long leaps split them up and are easy to dodge, while the poison actually has the huge benefit of keeping one occupied for ages.
I tested and yeah it damages them a lot, assuming it is due to their vulnerability to magic.

I have mostly given up on finding a faith unique weapon, anything that has faith scaling (other than the cipher weapons) require a lot of str and dex. I know I'm repeating myself a lot but jeez, it does suck after seeing so many int weapons. Wonder if this will be a Dark Souls 3 situation where Pyromancy was meh in the base game but amazing in the DLCs

(other than the cipher weapons)
I don't think I've heard of any others. Scythe never felt weak even though I mostly never went past the base requirements for STR/DEX so maybe lopsided scaling is factored into enemy resistances, though I guess if you're Deprived base requirements are still a lot.

I wonder if I'd have enjoyed faith more if I ever used buffs and utility spells besides Cleanse.

If you're an incanter don't overlook the stone toss beast magic from Gurranq either like I did at first. Almost as strong as a fireball, but faster with longer range and you can chain them incredibly quickly for good poise damage and DPS. They're great for anything that moves around too much for fire and they were my go-to for dragons/gargoyles.
Edit: and surprisingly good for stunlocking invaders to death when they try to back off for some gatorade.

Also if you haven't played pyro before: learn to free-aim spells.
You can get longer range and do trick shots around stuff. Unfortunately ER has pretty aggressive auto-aim so you can't prioritise a dude standing behind another guy like you used to (but I didn't check if you can turn that off).
Speaking of the beast spells, I was told the beast claw spell was amazing but I failed to see how. After reading this I am assuming it is due to how quick you can cast them, a shame i spent my smithing stones upgrading the black flame talisman.

So here is a Video going over pretty much the best farm I can find so far.

Rune Farm

One note from the video is there are two maidens, another one can be found at the Church of Inhibition. To get to it gotta go south from the Grand Lift of Dectus and deal with the Madness Tower. The tower has 4? rats on the first floor and a bunch of guys on the top floor, if you kill the guys its stops the madness permanently. Go through the village and when you get to church you will get invaded by Vyke. The Maiden is near the Site of Grace in the Church sitting in a chair.

Regardless of what people say it is not really a late game Farm. The grey guys don't attack until provoked and the ones near the cliff can knock them off. The grey ones drop 2044ish Runes and the Red ones a little more. With the Golden Scarab its 2400ish and 2900ish runes dropped. So if you got a lot of AOE and can kill them you can get around 30k Runes in seconds to minutes and the distance to the Site of Grace makes it a really good farm.

I heard that too and I don't get it either. Maybe it goes through stuff (sure does when enemies use it)? But it didn't seem all that much faster for the range tradeoff versus fire and I was barely using the similar black flame spray. Stone of Gurranq is legit great though.
I didn't use the beast talisman either but it's only like an 8% bonus, DPS is still good without it, and I assumed fireballs would be most FP efficient as a general purpose dungeon crawling spell since they always were before.

ya ya ya, put tree spirit in bottom of pit in stormfront castre
and make him crip through warr entire time you fight him
and give him hory AOE because everything needs AOE burrshit

I really hate Melina. Her first phase is fine, but the 2nd phase is hard to fucking see anything. Worse is that's it's a damn Sekiro fight with her anime bullshit. I'm glad her Shotacon ass failed at everything.

I looked this up. Claw apparently did stupid damage on top of having a fast cast time during the Network Test, and its damage ate a nerf going from CNT to release.

Don't regret that choice too much. Godslayer Talisman's actually not bad from my using it.

well after mixing up saves going to start over and this time I think I will just murder hobo all the merchants this time to consolidate all their inventories instead of having to try and track them down all the time.

trouble on melania? just walk in a circle around her for genuinely two minutes. No, really. I assume you could do this for an hour - great design!

I need frame data on all of my weapons to learn which ones can and cannot safely r1-r1 on her attacks unless I want to punish with a single attack every ten seconds. This shit's stupid.
