Welcome to every Fromsoft game post DS1. I don't know why they keep fucking doing it but they do. I remember playing DS1 when it came out and after returning to the asylum and fighting the torch wielding undead who would insta stunlock you with an attack that lasted 45 fucking seconds so even if you blocked it you were fucked and thinking they were the most annoying enemy in the game.
Then DS2 came out and half the enemies were like that, then Bloodborne came out and every enemy was like that, then DS3 came out and every enemy was either that or did the tired as fuck pause combo. At least they finally learned there's no reason to require you to go to a hub to level up. Don't know why they've regressed on every improvement Dark Souls 1 made over Demons Souls. All that being said Elden Ring is so far better than any of their other games post DS1. Bloodborne is overrated shite and I'll never understand why it's so beloved.
I don't hate DS3 but it's where I started noticing them overdoing shit, particularly having massive mobs of enemies around every corner and the aforementioned enemy moveset issue. If I were to rank them right now it'd beI liked DS3 the most and the only thing I didn't like about it is that it was much more linear.

DS1>Elden Ring>Sekiro>DS3>Bloodborne=DeS>DS2
I don't think it's flawless, hell after O&S the game suffers a pretty steep downturn in quality but it nails a bunch of things the following games don't, mainly exploration and having the feeling of it being a unique world. I can remember every single area in DS1 because they're all pretty drastically different. You have a dingy city, a poisonous swamp, a dusky forest, a crystal covered library, a trap filled fortress, etc. For DS2 the only thing that comes to mind is the same boring caves over and over, for DS3 the same kind of thing only outside of Irithyl it's run down shanty towns and cemeteries, for Bloodborne it's either the same black brick streets or niggerman central which suck because the enemies in those areas are annoying as fuck.I love DS1 but to me it's very rough around the edges and I don't regard it as a flawless masterpiece like most seem to.
They sort of have insane shortcuts. There are those warp gates that take you to late game areas, usually behind enemies or in an area.I don't think it's flawless, hell after O&S the game suffers a pretty steep downturn in quality but it nails a bunch of things the following games don't, mainly exploration and having the feeling of it being a unique world. The second thing is DS1 not giving you teleporting until like 75% of the way through the game makes the world feel like a real place you have to pay attention to. In DS2 onward it feels like a bunch of levels with a few little optional paths because you can just warp wherever from the beginning. I think the open world in ER actually alleviates this somewhat since even if you're warping all over the place there's so much ground to cover it doesn't feel like you're just warping between hallways. I still wish they could have put in some crazy shortcut shenannigans in ER like DS1 had but I understand that's insanely hard to do in an open world.
The T-Rex dogs fucking spook me man. Like an enemy cut from Bloodborne, shit everything in Caelid is a nightmare realm. The birds especially, what the actual fuck happened here? It can't be the mushrooms and shit growing there, something FUCKED happened.I think I hate Caelid.
Specifically the giant goddamn dogs, jebus. The literal rot dragon is less annoying.
Can't wait to storm the castle.
A lot of areas in this game are fucking spooky. Way closer to horror than traditional high fantasy. The T-Rex dogs fucking spook me man. What you want to pay attention when choosing weapons is generally 3 things:As a DS noob, can someone tell me exactly what weapons do what, and what, if anything, needs a special type? I mean, so far I'm going to be sticking with the boring-ass Lordsworn Sword with a shield simply because its good enough, but I'd like some advice and options.

Do I look like a man with a plan to you? All I know is heavy armor and a melee weapon, so a fair bit of Endurance, but aside from that no clue on specific weapon or even if I'll use a shield. Consider that open-ended based on suggestions.Well what build are you going for?
Don't have it on ps5 but I think it would be quickest for you to just make a new character and ferry the set via one of your friends.Currently running a paladin strength/faith build and it's been pretty fun so far. I leveled enough so that I can use the golden halberd and that thing is awesome. Ended up getting the game on playstation 5 because my mates are all on there too and so far I've had no issues luckily.
Not sure if this is right place for this or not but I'm currently looking for the Confessor Armor (chest piece or really all of the set) would anyone on playstation be able to trade it to me? Happy to give something in return.
