Maliketh is a fucking spaz and "over tuned". I after a few attempts just summoned mimic tear. It's not a fun fight.
When I beat that POS I yelled a triumphant "Fuck you!" at the monitor. Never again am I playing that fucking boss. I'd rather fight Sister Frieda in Dark Souls 3 without summoning than play that garbage again.

Yeah Im doing a bleed run eventually. Hopefully bleed doesnt get nerfed
I hope From's not that stupid. CDPR basically killed off any remaining interest in CP2077 with patch 1.5 where they nerfed a good 75% of the perks and guns into the ground and now everything feels equally shitty and weak.

He's ultra weak to bleed. If you have enough dps and proc bleed you can basically skip phase 2.

You have to absolutely slash the shit out of him to proc the bleed. Your best bet is to use a Mimic Tear.

Melee attacks aren't so bad but in the later half of the game it seems like every boss has a magic beam/meteor attack with a massive AOE that can one shot you even with max vigor. I get why that's a thing (prepare to die) but it's still really obnoxious especially when they have basically no health left and then that hits you.

Also there's a boss in animu Souls clone Code Vein called the Gilded Knight that is extremely obnoxious for melee builds because every twenty seconds or so he explodes in a massive AOE that either one or two shots you if you're in melee range and it doesn't have a great tell when it's about to occur. I noticed this time around From borrowed that move for at least five bosses.
Yeah, it just feels like once you get to the snow area and haligtree it goes from mostly fair with a little bit of bullshit to "lol fuck you" levels of bullshittery of everything being able to two shot you if you're not playing perfectly no matter what build

I found that the double skellyman ashes were really good in dealing with the more difficult bosses. The trick is to pull the bosses aggro whenever the skeletons get knocked down so they have time to respawn.
Boss aggro is kind of random. Bosses just decide to go after whoever but it's mostly based on who is currently attacking the boss. I even tried that Talisman that supports to enrage an enemy and have them focus on you and that did nothing.

Friede is super fun. You're nuts

Did we fight the same boss? You can avoid almost all of elden beasts' moves by sprinting. the sparkly homing orb is dodged by turning left and right because it turns slow.
the shooting stars can be dodged by running in like any direction as long as you don't do a 180. Rather than bullshit I find elden beast to be an incredible spectacle, if not somewhat easy.
To me it felt like it is very RNG-dependent, my successful attempt for example didn‘t feel so bad overall (ok, actually it did, but only because I was frustrated already from the tries before). So maybe you had luck? Or maybe I just did something wrong all the time, because for example yes, you can of course dodge the homeing orb, but only for so long. At least to me it was around ages and at some point my stamina was drained. But even with stamina left the smaller sparkles basically got me everytime. And yeah, as I said, it‘s not this alone, but that in parallel it can get in up to 2 additional techniques (maybe more?) which really takes the cake.
To me it was very unforgiving for the most part and often just felt unfair, but again, maybe I just tackled the fight completely wrong all together.

However I agree in terms of spectacle/visuals. It looked great.

Happy to hear about experiences from others with that boss!

(EDIT: Forgot about the shooting stars: Well, yes, I did this, I ran in one direction, however for some reason (even if I had still stamina) some of them still hit me. Don‘t ask me why, but sometimes it just happened)

I'm gonna have to second that I find Friede to be a fun fight with a cool atmosphere and mind that I always play these games without summoning help or using magic/etc. Just pure str/dexfaggotry.

Open the map and try fast traveling if every spot has a red line through it. Unless this is just a really consistent bug in my copy, you can't. That red line means you haven't completed the dungeon you're in.
Pretty sure it just means you're too deep inside and happens even if you've cleared the boss. The exit portal thing from the boss room (usually) takes you just close enough to the entrance to fast travel but they're not otherwise related.
Kinda wish it worked like that though. I guess you can favourite places you haven't finished, I usually did em on the spot or put down a skull marker, but I don't think there's anything automatic.

Dragon Quest is getting shown up by both Souls and Monster hunter now. Elden Ring has sold more than all previous Soulsborne games combined just like World did with it's previous installments.
I hope this franchise doesn't get dumbed down. Sometimes when niche developers get huge hits they dumb down their products for mass appeal and start hiring tons of sjws and other trash from Western AAA developers a la CD Projekt Red.

CD Projekt's red problem wasn't hiring, it was biting off more than they could chew with the scope of a game and then not having the man power to deliver it on top of contantly spinning their wheels and changing shit which negated previously completed work. It was entirely a management problem.

With all the popularity of the Soulsborne series has gotten it's still not going to change much since they've been still making the same style games since the 90's with King's Field and Shadow Tower. They have a formula down pat that they can perfect and refine and have done so for decades already. The major thing that people want is just easily understood quests and some QoL features which wouldn't take away from the main gameplay aspects. The DES remake pretty much puts emphasis on how to finish all the side quests, so it's not like it hasn't been done before.

Now that I'm in the endgame it really feels like From Software really phoned in the final or secret bosses. Every boss has mechanics that are redundant or could be cut away and if you did the boss would be a steam roll (Maleka has a seizure and somehow your character dies from it, Mogh has non-stop undodgeable aoes, the snake boss has a non-stop AOE phase and an undodgeable fire sword attack for no reason, the scarlet rot boss heals her self every. fucking. time. she hits you, Godrick... is fucking godrick, Godskin Nobles boil down to "OH YOU THOUGHT THOSE FIGHTS WERE TOUGH, YOU GET TO FIGHT TWO!"). If you strip away these mechanics then the fights would be too easy. They're not even really fun fucking fights. The snake god is boring as hell to fight and every time I die, I get to do the same mechanic over, and over, and over again. Actually none of these fights are fun if I'm really thinking about it.
