If you have 12 strength go to the mistwoods well and grind those claymen with spears. Their spears scale with int and shield poking is very effective. With that you can counter imps (not shield counters, those go above their heads- counter damage while you poke them mid attack) and go into those side dungeons with ease.Decided to go ahead and start a new playthrough with an astrologer. Does anyone have tips for dealing with invader npcs before you start getting really good spells? Haven’t bother getting past Margit yet and the scythe guy in roundtable just dodges all your spells.
If you really like it, later you can slap on an Ash of War that's like the Winged Scythe called Loretta's Slash. That makes its damage rival that of an unbuffed Dark Moon Greatsword.
Oh, and use Rock Sling or get the bubble spell from that mistwoods well. NPC invaders don't understand a delayed launch so slow moving/delayed launch spells work wonders on them.
