What is the advantage of Quick Step? It seems more like a PvP kind of weapon art.
To compare it to a CAG, it makes it a little more Bayonetta/DMC. It's fast but the i-frame window is also short, being quick to come out is the benefit. If you know when to QS, the rhythm of attacks, it's easy peasy. But there's also times when you fuck up and try to get into the groove again, sort of like messing up in Guitar Hero and frantically trying to get back into it.

In other words, it's like spamming Dead Hard with solid i-frames.

It seems to me that Fia will automatically move to Godwyn (and leave D dead) once the Roundtable Hold sparks, but I'm not sure about whether Ranni will give you access to her old body for the half mending rune if you never confront her with Rogier's suspicion.
Ranni still allow me to get her old body, since on my playthrough Rogier is already sleeping
I already meet her to get the summon bell, maybe that’s why she’s friendly to me

So you can, but you might not be able to get Ranni’s half of the cursemark?
For that I think you just have to talk to Ranni -> do the nokron shit -> go back to ranni with the knife then you get the statue to invert the tower

Edit: also yeah rogier is inconsequential to like every quest i think. Hes just there for extra lore and his associated items

The quests in Elden Ring are a fucking mess from top to bottom, I have no idea the hell people go after interacting with them and if I don't interact with them before [event] I can perminantly fuck up the questlines just like that. I get this is probably to artificially extend the life of the game by letting people do a guided playthrough after a blind one, but I'm just mad how there's so many interesting characters I meet that just... disappear after I've interacted with them and without looking up a guide I have no idea if I've fucked up the quest or they're halfway across the map.

I've only done two playthroughs, the second being done in a rush to see some things that I missed the first time, and it's apparent that NPCs are moved around to some extent so that you don't necessarily need to find every single scene with them to progress to their end. For example:
  • Roderika will eventually appear at the Roundtable Hold even if you don't find her key item at Stormveil Castle, and she'll automatically become a spirit tuner once activate the Giants' Flame.
  • Alexander will appear at the Radahn Festival and introduce himself there if you never meet him at his initial hole. I also found him at the volcano without ever see him stuck in his second hole.
  • Blaidd will appear as a hostile at Ranni's Rise even if you never find him trapped in the evergaol. Iji will then remark in surprise of Blaidd having escaped his cell.
There are some NPCs who need to have steps fulfilled, though. For example, Hyetta won't get to the Three Fingers unless you give her all the grapes she asks for.

another note on roderika. if you dont care about the jellyfish (maybe you can still get it idk) you can ignore her, rest at any non-limgrave grace (such as the beastial sanctum or the lake-facing cliffs thats passed the castle) you can go back to where she was and pick up the golden seed without actually doing any of her quest stuff
helpful if youre an autist like me who plans to do lots of playthroughs

Am I the only one who felt the endgame was really really easy? Idk maybe I was just too fucking cranked but the last five or bosses I just roflstomped. Didn't die once on Fire Giant, Godskin duo, Malikath, or Elden beast. Malikath in particular was really really disappointing. He died in under 30 seconds.

Fire giant was a bitch, but mostly because he kept running away from me and I didn't know you could use Torrent.
Maliketh was also surprisingly easy, he had far lower health that I expected. If he had had more, I suspect he would have been much harder as the fight drew out.
Haven't killed Radagon or Elden Beast yet, but I have helped people kill him and he seems like he won't be awful either.

Malenia really set a bar for difficulty, and nothing has stacked up to her, outside of Placidusax (but that's because his phase 2 zones me, and I don't like being bullied).

I'm convinced it's because the Japanese developers get nostalgic over the experience of finding secrets and spreading it by word of mouth but they don't understand that shit just doesn't fly anymore (ESPECIALLY with how they implement theirs) in an age where we don't do LAN parties or go round each other's houses and talk to realize friend B got a different ending to friend A.

unironically, first dark souls game?
I thought they had learned their lesson after 3, but I think this game might be even worse especially with 90% of the quests getting FUCKED after you light the erdtree on fire. I keep forgetting to do Nepheli's quest, she just straight up disappears and dies after you light the erdtree

You're talking about a society that still uses fax machines as a means of major communication.

I've been co-oping for bosses recently and wtf I keep getting errors like crazy, I've checked my internet speed and it's 100mps and 31ping, is it just my connection or is the netcode really that bad? Also I've gotten a random crash while being summoned too *sigh*

Yes, that's the thing. I didn't actually expect ANY side quests before starting the game but it's so fucking complicated and I hate how you need to talk to someone multiple times in order to reach the next stage of their quest. If I cleared Fort Haight and talked to Haight guy just the once he wouldn't move, I have to keep pestering him to give me something and then he'll move.

There's so many fun characters like this (especially pot head guy) but I know if I don't look up a guide I'm never going to see what happens to them.

Welcome to From Software games, enjoy your stay. The absolute hassle to get Sekiro's best ending springs to mind as being equally frustrating. I'm currently doing one final playthrough, following the 81 part guide by FightinCowboy, that should get me all achievements, and all bosses.

Man I understand why certain weapons with unique ashes of war or scaling can't have their ashes swapped, but how come every single somber smithing stone weapon can't have their ashes swapped? Just have it keep the infusion, I just want something better than 'piercing thrust' on the shitty Crystal Spear and 'spinning slash' on the Crystal Sword. Ditto with the Rotten Crystalian Staff, fucking thing can't even use its rot because it has 'no skill' instead of spinning weapon or whatever.

Also the guy that made Pocket Souls is looking into making a version for Elden Ring. Allegedly there's a chance the memory issue from the DS3 mod could be a thing of the past due to the game's open world nature- meaning there's a chance that if/when the ER version comes out, you might actually be able to catch everything within reason. He's fucking around with mounts right now and so far it looks interesting.

Well the Somber weapons do have the advantage of only needing one Somber Stone a level instead of the 12 Smithing Stones like the other weapons.
