Not so, winged scythe can be found as early as weeping peninsula and has decent faith/str scaling.

Use that until the better greatsword open up.

I'm just not a fan of the scythe moveset and prefer greatswords. Then you get black knife/erdtree bow/holy cipher type weapons mid/late game.

Strength Faith is definitely solid late game but you're sort of a gimped Paladin type early.
If you strictly want a strength faith greatswords though your best option is Maliketh's Black Blade - but you can't get that until endgame. It's got one of the longest reaches of all the greatswords and Destined Death is just really really good. I'd recommend using the Sacred Scorpion talisman and the Dragon Crest Greatshield talisman along with it. You make a joke out of most enemies using this.

Also sorry for double post but I just gotta say, Commander Niall is cancer. Group banished knights are cancer. Patiently waiting for Nialls snail pace attacks with strange timing is cancer.

I love everything about this game, but Niall can fuck off. I ended up cheesing him by jumping off the map in an area where you can miss the killbox so the map deloaded and he fell to his death.

People complain about cheese, but the boss encounter itself is cheesy as fuck. And this is coming from someone who didn't think the duo Crucible Knights bossfight was that bad. The knights complimented eachothers move set, and so did Smough and Ornstein in the days of old. Niall is just two annoying enemy types slapped together with frost debuffs. It's not fun to fight.

I agree, but just saying that with two heavy weapons, you can kill both guys with two jump attacks.

I raise you fire giant. A boss with a titanic health pool and attacks that often go outside view range. Im glad in a way FromSoft continued their tradition of cancerous end game bosses.

Yeah the Fire Giant IS bullshit.
I've dropped him enough times though at low level that I've gotten good at figuring out what attack he's using just by how his legs are moving.
Raptor of the Mist and quickstep make dodging his snow wave throw thingy easy.
Quickstep and Bloodhound step work well for his BS fireball spam in phase 2. Actually rolling that attack isn't too bad.
It's his rolling shenanigans that generally get me.
Poison Moth Flight was my strat the last few times I took him on.

I somehow beat him 3rd try. I got lucky with him not constantly rolling around in second phase though, most of the fight I was just wailing on his legs - I feel your pain though, most people I hear from say this boss is ass.

Personally I really hated Mohg, second phase he just constantly flies away from you and constantly throws bloodflame all over. Tried it coop with a mage and it just was not happening. Beat it solo with my mimic tear, but it still took like 10 tries.

Also unrelated, but I beat Melania! I don't know how but I beat her on like my 3rd try lol. I was using rivers of blood though and so was my mimic. Rivers of Blood is very good, but even then I took more tries than that for other bosses at this point in the game. I think I got lucky with phases/mimic taking most of the beating for me.

You can also use Bewitching Branches on the two Banished Knights he summoned to make it hilarious.
I watched a video the other day(challenge run, 1hp, 1fp, 1stamina) where he out of despiration used a bewitching brand on a giant crab in the dung eater fight. With interesting results.

My first dung eater fight lasted about 8 seconds. He spawned in. I rushed in to start scrapping. Mr crabs rolls up out of the ground. Spits death blight and dung eater starts doing his omen bairn attack.
Mr.Crabs spares no one.
I got a good laugh out of that one.

I get a growing urge to get back into Elden Ring. I didn't finish it and I wasn't exactly a superfan, but I must have 90 hours in it for a reason and after watching some videos like the one I posted I get reminded that I never explored or ventured far into so and so area.

I played through the game three times so far and Fire Giant is my least favorite boss. He's not the hardest fight, but his mechanics are annoying. Sure, you can take little stabs at him from your horse but he has a huge health bar and this method takes too long, especially since failing to avoid a single roll can easily dismount you. Also, you spend most of your time looking at a foot which gave me flashbacks of my WoW raiding days.

Started a new game cause ps5....Flail changes feel good and im whipping Margit a new one with it.
That's good to hear. I liked using flails at the beginning but the damage just wasn't there as I progressed to the harder zones so I ended up switching to better weapons. It's one of the only dex weapons that does strike damage, which made it very useful against crystalians and those claymen that infest the underground areas.

Thanks! But that's not a problem, the only ones I had a problem with was Margit(I had no health and little armor, a single hit would almost kill me, getting combo'd would kill me) and Radahn(fuck him, I can't see what's happening).
Other than that it's been smooth sailing and I've melted several bosses on the first try.

You should get the nightriders flail, dropped by the black knight calvary in limgrave at night. It's like the normal flail but has better scaling and the ash of war can be changed, basically just a direct upgrade

Finally managed to start my Elden Ring playthrough again; working on a lifesteal 2h tank build like you guys recommended, and it's been fun so far. Currently planning on grabbing the Great Stars, but I was wondering; should I swap to the Blasphemous Blade or Greathorn Hammer later on down the line, or no?
