There’s a lot of shit that never gets answered. Marika and Ranni’s connection is weirder because they share two things in common: both hated the Greater Will and both have an involvement with a moon. Marika is a numen and has a connection to Nokstella and it’s moon.
The Nox also pissed off the Two Fingers and got banished to the underground. Perhaps Marika's rebellion was on behalf of the Nox?

mean, speaking of Marika's connection with Ranni, there is also Melina's connection to Ranni since in the fires of madness ending her open eye has similarities to Ranni and it's also implied she's related to Marika.
Considering Melina was born at the foot of the Erdtree I always assumed that she was the coalescence of what remains of the Gloam-Eyed Queen and that her being connected to Grace was Marika's way of controlling Death.

Man, we literally see an Outer God descending in her ending. The same Outer God to whom her entire culture had been devoted from the inception. We literally hear her proclaming that she's delivering the world to said Outer God. Not even touching on Ranni's character or track record here. Just, we're directly shown what she wants to do, almost as directly as we've been shown that the world dies with the First Flame. I swear "Ranni wants to remove the interference of outer beings" is a level of delusion that can only be explained by simping.

And, well, besides the whole lightshow at the end, she is literally a puppet, in an example of FROM's typical level of subtlety.
It's important to note that they fucked up the translation and what she says when you talk to mini Ranni in her tower is not what she was supposed to say. In english it makes it sound like she wants to eliminate humanity or some shit and give them over the the moon, whereas what she's supposed to say is that she wants to take her order and move it somewhere else.
Ranni simps also tend to overlook that she's also 100% responsible for Godwyn being turned into this fucking abomination and the world getting fucked by undeath.

And unlike many of the other demigods he really didn't deserve such a fate, Godwyn was by all accounts one of the few actually heroic and morally good characters, his lore is he literally stopped the war between Leyndell and the dragons by befriending them. I wouldn't trust Ranni as far as I can throw her.
I remember reading something which implicated Marika in Godwyn's assassination, having essentially planned it years before it happened. Granted I can't remember where I read this and I could be manufacturing a memory, so take that with a grain of salt.

If you side with Ranni, you do, in fact, get her cool hat at the end of her questline.
You should only get it once you unlock the "Darkmoon" ending, as a cheeky way of implying you hooked up with her after the screen fades to black.

Forgot to post these yesterday
https://youtube.com/watch?v=i8i0RGgMyIkhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=8zuQ8AoVsSIApparently there's going to be some kind of Sekiro style attack scaling system. Whether it's going to scale you down, scale the world up, or something else entirely is unclear. The intention being to present the player with an appropriate challenge due to players likely waltzing into the new content with a cracked build.
They should just release Elden Ring 2.

Imagine upgrading your gear to +25, reaching lv 160, and then suddenly you can't kill rats anymore. Talk about retarded progression.

As a final point, The Future Press guide, if you are willing to take it into account, does say directly that Ranni masterminded Godwyn's assassination herself, though it gives no reason for why she would want Godwyn dead, and there is no known canonical reason why she would target Godwyn specifically.
I feel like this is just one of those things that got cut in development. It doesn't make much sense for Ranni to have wanted to kill Godwyn outside of it being the impetus for starting The Shattering to begin with.

If we assume that what we are told from the start is accurate and that Marika did just genuinely get butthurt and break the Ring in grief then it kind of makes sense? But I can't read the rest of the game in any way outside of Marika and Ranni working together to fuck the GW.
I mean, that's just standard From Soft that half the things never get explained. That the ancient lore was made up by lazy fat fuck does mean that it's probably more coherent than it's been in other from games but I also expect deeper details to just stay as implied things, never outright stated. I mean, speaking of Marika's connection with Ranni, there is also Melina's connection to Ranni since in the fires of madness ending her open eye has similarities to Ranni and it's also implied she's related to Marika. That's one of the mysteries I expect will stay as such. So I'm mostly just hoping we get more about Godwyn even if the DLC is Miquella centric.

Ranni and Melina being similar in regards to the eye thing is probably a result of Marika using a similar sort of magic or rebirth on the gloam eyed queen to make Melina that Ranni used to split her soul and body.
I find it very optimistic people think the DLC will solve the plot issues rather than add more issues along brand new characters that were never mentioned
Messmer is the only new addition that doesn't seem to tie into anything else, but there are hints towards his existence in the base game. The DLC seems very Marika and Miquella focused, with Miquella following in Marika's footsteps or finding what she hid in the Shadow Realm. Those are massive gaps the DLC is pitching as a fix.

Only Dark Souls 3 fails to play into anything meaningful in the base game with it's DLC and that game's a fucking mess so it's no surprise.

"I can't immediately make sense of something made by a guy known to deliberately leave key information out so players can have fun speculating."->"IT MUST BE LE CUT CAHNTENT"
lol

Reductio ad cut content

>Friede and Yuria
>Corvians
>Farron followers
>Painter ("a pale girl in hiding" teased in the base game)
>Dreg Heap expanding on the final area of the base game
>Pygmy lords ala Ludleth
>goal is to find the object that is the title of the game

lmao even

Remember the last time you sperged about DS3 and its cut content? When it turned out you actually knew fuck all? I do.
Honestly can't wait to see when you reveal that your opinion is entirely based on a fake 4chins leak.

I remember people being really excited DS3's Ringed City would answer some long-running questions, and then Miyazaki was all "fuck you, have some nonsense with Fillianore instead". I don't expect this to answer anything.

It answered a few things. Namely that Gwyn fucked everything over because of his autism about the Dark, and humanity would've been just fine if he didn't try to seal away the Dark within them.

Actually what are the plot questions in ER? The game is pretty self contained on what happened and what you do with some vagueness on the endings. Bloodborne was the only game with dlc about a deep dark secret (fitting for the inspiration). DS1 and 2 were about world building, while 3 finally answered the fan autism about the pygmies which revealed.... They were some random guys.

Mostly concering what the fuck Miquella was up to.
Didn't she spend 1000 years moping on her shota brother being kidnapped by the family rapist and that she was nearly killed after killing the one virtuous member of her family that said family rapist manipulated her to do?

I don't. Enlighten me good sir, I could use a sensible chuckle.
His argument boiled down to "ree game make no sense, CUT CAHNTENT everything made sense and was more interdasting!!!", kinda like him saying Ranni/Godwyn has to be cut content and the game just makes no sense now.

Then when he was told that "unexplained" concepts chaffing his ass were either the same or didn't even exist yet and all his sperging about it was pure fanfiction, he basically replied with "don't care I'm still right". Pretty sure he did actually mention the fake QA leak too.

DS1 showed pretty hardcore with Manus that humanity (as in dark soul fragments, of which he had a huge piece) are one autistic meltdown away from causing a world ending calamity. Dude lost his pendant, and his spergout resulted in an entire city getting destroyed, while he himself turned into a monster producing endless darkness.

The games go to great lengths to show and explain that humanity can turn into horrific nightmares and are fueled by strong desires. I don't get how anyone can look at that and then say "Gwyn was just too autistic about it".

Miquella is the shota brother. You're thinking Malenia.

I was under the impression that the Manus business happened after Gwyn fucked over humanity, but there's so much ambiguity in the timeline I suppose Manus could've predated Gwyn's obsessive quest to remain relevant forever.

Not really, but it's nice to know you still seethe about it like a year later, even though I'm still right.

I suppose the issue is less cut content and more that Dark Souls 3 is fucking retarded and contradictory to previously established games in the franchise. And yes, even if the Q.A. leak happened to be fake (which would legitimately be my bad) it is still a game that was hastily slapped together at the last second full of cut content and misshapen ideas that barely together into a cohesive whole. You can admit that the issue is less I think the game has a massive fuckton of cut content and that you're just mad that I don't like your favorite game.
