I’ve been playing this as of late because I dropped it for real life reasons a month or so after it came out.

My gripe is that this game really wants you to use magic or incantations. I just want to hit things with big stick, why everything take magic. Barely anything scales with arcane or strength, at least that I’ve found 60 hours in. If I were a dex/int character I would be swimming in choices.

At 1:22, shadow/warped version of Gurranq?

The whole thing about Miquella giving up everything makes me think that shit had not gone according to plan and while he went into that cocoon to heal, getting abducted by Mogh was not what he wanted.
I believe that Malenia’s march was supposed to bring Radahn to heel and cause the Eclipse and give Godwyn true death, except that didn’t happen and Radahn almost won the war if not for Malenia nuking him.

I hope we get Shadow Radahn or something like Ludwig. I’m a sucker for charismatic warriors loved by their men and his character seems cool from the four lines we have. His cinematic trailer moment always looked like he was giving Melania the chance to surrender even after her troops speared him in the back.

Supposedly there’s unused story and dialogue where Radahn might have been helping Ranni by holding back the stars in order to pop open the Eternal cities when a big enough star came by.

What faggots are you talking about in Elden Ring? You man Miquella and Mough? I think it's more about themes than literal gay love.
Miquella is sort of both genders because he's a cursed inbred god with split personality disorder.
Mough seems only interested in the power he could potentially gain from being in a relationship with Miquella, which is why he sticks by him even while he's a massive man looking corpse in an egg.
In the game's world, regular sex is basically frowned upon by the golden order, and people are born via the Erd tree, which allows it to keep control/influence over the lands between.
A piece of media can have LGBT+ characters in it without supporting it. That's like saying if you hate black people, you can't make a movie starring any black people, even if you're trying to make them look bad.
The only part of the game that makes me vaguely agree with your paragraph is the character creator, where they changed the gender names to "Body type A/B"
Miquella isn’t both genders, he might be St. Trina, but that might be someone else’s identity who he adopts. He also isn’t gay, Mogh kidnaps him and uses an Outer God to force him to metamorphose into an Empyrean. Miquella literally is cursed by his circumstance of birth to forever be a juvenile. I assume that Mogh’s God was literally going to transform Miquella into basically an avatar of itself, which is the “Formless Mother”.

If you go the route of Mogh is a homo then it’s gay incest rape. Otherwise Miquella is just a literal little boy with long hair unironically trying to grow up.

you can go pure grug and just bash people over the head (ideally with dual wielding colossal jump attacks) and do very well for yourself, my first playthrough was pure strength and it basically trivialized all content with the exception of Malenia, the only easier build i've played with since was dex/arcane with curved swords.

Have you tried using ashes of war to make weapons scale with strength or arcane better? Str/arc builds are some of my favorites. Bleed on heavy weapons is some proper unga bunga faceroll shit.
I’ve been using heavy brick hammer and switched over to heavy scaling great sword which feels like I’m actually playing Dark Souls. I just want more options as far as those go. I’m fully ungabunga on this character and having fun, just feels a little limited. I only have a couple of pure strength weapons.

I'm just saying that ER has a lot more freedom in terms of the limitations your main stat(s) have on your weapon selection over other souls games. It's one of its best features imo.

Having just watched the trailer, I guess now is as good a time as ever to "freshen up" for the DLC. I do need to play those sick mods I've been keeping an eye on for a while now. Convergence for example. I don't have any friends that play souls games so Seemless Coop is out of the question. And some minor new mods perhaps. I doubt those boss reworks work with Convergence so I'm axing those for now. Someone made a merge of three mods I've been looking at for a while now so that's great.

I've been playing Convergence for DSIII. I got pretty far into it, but then Elden Ring came out and I dropped it entirely. It's amazing how creative the team is. Archthrones looks baller too.

The Convergence is worth finishing. It's imo the only (complete) DS3 overhaul currently worth playing and the only one that's nailed an added mechanic.
Archthrones is great. My only complaint so far is that there aren't any additional mechanics or tweaks to existing ones.

A lot of NPCs have blocking mechanics imported from Skeiro, I think.

If you play a grug player you need to abuse ashes of war. You need to have a few light back up weapons with OP ashes to abuse. Blood hound step and switching to a heavy weapon to punish is fun, but not the only strat.

The issue is that you can’t play as a sole ultra greatsword fag. You have to switch and play with status build up.

I don’t PvP but yeah I could see that being the way to go. I’ll come back and update after I beat the game but BB is still my personal favorite of the series. It had a lot of the freedom ER has but the horror aesthetic and weapons were just amazing and the game didn’t feel too big to me.

I'm hype af and I've been hitting the replay button on the newest trailer and this part does something for me.

Fucking Miyazaki, making me simp for characters who's siblings I've killed dozens of time.
That's just wrong, nigga!

I just want more funny hats and the kung-fu moveset.
Definitely

I have an endgame character and another that has Mogh and Radhan dead so can go straight into the DLC as well even though I haven't even gone beyond Leyndell. I'm unsure who I should go into the DLC with. I guess I'll start with the endgame one first and see how things feel. I'm just kind of surprised that it's only a month away.

Best waifu.

Duel wielding jump attack spam is literally the most busted way to play the game because you'll just stunlock 98% of the enemies in the game. It's not the same as just face tanking and tapping R1 like you could do in demons through DS2, but UngaBunga is still extremely viable.

Random theory not really based on anything:

This dude in the painting is the same guy as these statues we find everywhere.

Marika was probably in a toxic relationship with him or something before Godfrey and betrayed him, which is why we later find him in the DLC pulling a giant gold rune out of his head. His badge looks similar to the symbol of the all-knowing. He's probably a good guy (relative to the world they're living in).
