Best selling Souls was DS3 with over 12 mil. ER sold over 25 mil. Just some food for thought anytime you see someone zealously defending this new asset flip. There is a very high chance they have never played anything else made by From.
Not exactly true, we need to assume there are some variations, meaning people that only played DS3 or only DS1, or played DS1 and DS3 but not DS2, only played Demon's soul, etc. As such the number of people that played one of the Soul games, Demon's or the DS trilogy is far more than 12 million.

So we can assume the real number of people that have played at least one of the souls games is more like 20 to 30 million, if we include Bloodborne and Sekiro this increases further.

Also I would like to point out that despise how many people suck Sekiro for its fast pace combat, DS1 and DS2 each outsold Sekiro despite the fact it was launched in an era FromSoft had a much better reputation, name recognition and marketing budget then when the first Soul games were launched.

Skip ahead to today and Dark Souls 1 has sold upwards to about 10 million while Demon's Souls sales never grew that much. Demon's Souls remake has sold about 1.4 mllion sales, roughly similar to the original game.
This is incorrect based on the data, OG Demon's souls sold at least 2.5 million and the Remake 2.9 million, making it a total of 5.5 million, given enough time, it is likely Demon's soul (OG and Remake) will end up selling more copies overall than Bloodborne as it took Bloodborne 9 years to sell 7.5 million copies, while the Demon's Souls Remake sold 3 million copies in 4 years so far

Got felted by an early boss, huh? Imagine being not only this wrong but actually standing on it like you're some sort of authority.
The problem isn't difficulty at all but rather design philosophy, mechanics and essence. To be truly fair, the game itself is not bad, it is fine, although the stealth mechanics are underbaked. It is just not a Soulslike at all, it is not a RPG, and FromSoft meshing its design with the Souls formula is how we got Elden Ring (particularly the DLC) terrible bosses and spam dodge design.

We have lost the grounded RPG medieval fantasy vision in favor of things getting more and more "anime", a trend that accelerated after Sekiro. I am fine with the game as it's own action-adventure thing, it is only when people mention as being part of the Souls genre and as such an example to be drawn from that I have a problem with it. The Souls trilogy and Sekiro are two very different types of games and experiences and mixing them just makes a mess

I've been trying the Elden Ring Reforged mod and frankly I'm sick of every enemy dealing twice the damage of vanilla and having new movesets on top of that.

Nightreign is what the fanbase has been asking for since Dark souls 3. The more anime the bosses became the more the player stagnated. Nightreign is giving the player an anime moveset and adding in modern gaming memes like battle royal and roguelike elements. It could be a monkey paw wish but it's what was asked for and doubled down on when Elden ring and it's DLC came out.

Souls likes have become staler than open world games now. The special elements were the exploration and difficult but fair combat and now it's meaningless. How much exploration is replaying a From game? Do you get difficult but fair and interesting bosses in souls likes now? The genre stagnated with Dark souls 3/Bloodborne and hasn't moved forward. Anime combat can't save the missing exploration of a developing genre and that's why the genre needs to be put away for a decade and come back when something creative is found not the same rehashes.

Not exactly true,
Most of the figures on that site are all kinds of made up bullshit using prediction models instead of real numbers. Take the DeS Demake for example, it has 2 "sources" for the 2.9 mill. The first one says 1.4 mill when you actually look it up, whoops. The second one is a shitty sales guestimator called "Playtracker", so completely made up, which gave the 2.9 mill figure.

It is just absolute garbage. Real figures are actively superceeded by tea leaf reading bullshit. Bloodborne is probably the only figure that's completely accurate, as that is just a copy paste of a leak fairly recent leak. The Dark Souls games are particularly egregious, every fucking stat is using the playtracker shit to somehow bullshit together the couple of known figures, like DS3 being over 10 million copies sold (only that number was from when the series was only at 25 million in 2020) and the series being at 35 million according to Namco (in 2023).

Clearly, that must mean the other 2 also sold 10 million to get to 30! It's just math! What tripe. Sorry you got gypped by the bullshit lilbro. Who would've thought a wiki would be unreliable?

The guy who made that mod literally advertises it as "the hardest mod ever made" Iron Pineapple made a video on it.

There are other total overhaul mods like Eclipse that focus more on a fun/interesting experience rather than extreme difficulty.

Reforged is like a borderline streamer ragebait mod, if that's your thing go for it just be aware what you're getting into.

Elden Ringu is shitty because it's just another gook anime game full of homosexual garbage in it.

I only like Dark Souls 1 because back then only real men played these games, nothing of faggot anime shit in it. Look at DS1's most important boss for example. He only fights with one hand like a badass motherfucker, his signature move is a 10 feet high summersault and he screams like Goku to increase his KI during phase transition. Way different than the cocksucking shit anime we have nowadays.

Sekiro sucks and the people that like it are tourists that must be purged from the community. The goat and greatest game will always be DS1, the lore they deviated from it, the worse their games got
Anyone who likes any from soft game other than king's field is a fake fan. All their games after it are modernized anime bullshit for modern audiences.

Can you link it? I searched but only found irrelevant stuff.

You will never see them make another actual hit deserving of the love.
I think you're irrationally and too emotionally attached to Dark Souls if this bothers you so much.

Yeah, we get it, you played Dark Souls 1 during your formative period and it was your favorite game ever and now the design is different and it upsets you.
was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but as more details have come out I'm off the train for this one boys.
Blatant cash grab but not even in a fun way. I'd have gladly paid 20 bucks for a new DLC with some boss rush shit in it for Elden Ring. This? No thanks.
It is just not a Soulslike at all, it is not a RPG,
That's the best part about Sekiro.
I can't think of any fandom more obsessed with hating the games they are obsessed with more than Fromsoft fans. Helped a long by the fact that they all play the games wrong.

Late and wrong! Go fuck yourself fromdrone hipster. Dark Souls 1 is not the best even if I happened to like it. I don't worship it but it sure as hell tried to be a followup to DES and should have ended as such especially when the DLC failed brutally gameplay wise and got us where we are now in their shitty design facets. Now we're stuck in dark souls limbo. If anything my issue IS dark souls being a series. Demon's Souls had the most interesting ideas within the early formula. Armored Core as a series is much stronger, especially the 3rd generation titles. Kingsfield peaked with IV, but it has its shortcomings. I can't even bring up their weird horror game because no one played it, but I'd love for them to return to Horror with all the horrific art teases and Bloodborne horror teases they have. You'll play souls roll slop. Not even Sekiro is perfect like I once said, it falls short and allows you to spam the parry button mindlessly to busted effect and no skill compared to let's say Ninja Gaiden. Sekiro feels good but has similar core issues souls has with AI and interaction. It's just faster enough to where it can feel more satisfying and "skill-based". Sekiro can be busted hard if you simply rebind the parry button to a trigger. Fromsoft should try more character action games and rip the Rpg skill tree faggotry out. Farming resources just to get a few extra gimmicks or abilities stops being fun once you realize you don't even need them if you're "good enough". Just because soulsfags and many were filtered by sekiro doesn't mean its a hard game. Quite the contrary. I'd even say its easier due to the rebirth mechanic, and only one or two bosses put you down properly. I'd have made it so when you revive in front of any enemies or progress far enough into the game they LEARN TO DISPATCH WOLF afterwards and in increasingly unforgiving - but fair ways to make rebirth more balanced and cool. 1000317848.jpg

I can't wait for Fromsoft to re-release Ninja Blade, hopefully it'll have some Elden Ring DLC.

I play Sekiro like Dark Souls using that whirlwind slash technique (does chip damage) and have more fun playing it like that than spamming parry or mikiri counter.
