Have you tried Labyrinth of the Demon King yet?

EDIT: Shit, beaten like the Moonlight Butterfly.
It was suggested to me yesterday. I picked it up for the near future. I'm currently console-fagging it cause my good pooter is out of commission at the moment and I just haven't bothered replacing it. It's on my to do list and actually up there now but money is tied up in important shit at the moment.
I'm busting through backlogs though and currently playing through Wild Arms 2 port for the PS4/PS5.
After that I need to blow through the Lunar Remasters.

Nightreign fucking blows. I understand having obscured mechanics not
explained to the player directly, and no text/voice chat in a normal FS game, half
the fun is figuring those things out for yourself, or finding unique communication solutions to coordinate player summons/invasions. But in a strictly Co-Op focused game? WTF were they thinking? The revive system is trash, the relic system is absolute dogshit reliant on RNG on any given run, and the damage scaling is terrible.

And also fuck you if you don't have an NVIDA GPU I guess, I've crashed mid match probably 30+ times.

killed the first nightlord, loaded up another one
THE SAME MAP???? you gotta be fucking with me

people paid $40 for this

This is why you don't blindly buy things and do research first.
For every man or woman that does this another 50 or so people do the opposite and will proudly and vocally stand up for that fact. I can say Assassins' Creed: Shadows is awful without even mentioning Samurai Black and you'll have 100000000000 redditors screeching that its a "return to form" and that Ubisoft has done it again.

I don't like Elden Ring very much.
In the same boat. Did not finish it.

ER followed the wrong path blazed by DS3. Because the fanbase were sheep, who lacked the balls to admit that spastic bosses with mandatory multiple phases, bullshit combos specifically meant to trick the player, and quests which mandated reading the guide were not good.

DeS/DS1/DS2 were primarily dungeoncrawl games, which rewarded paying attention to your environment to trivialize fights or at least avoid getting squashed. Duels in flat featureless arenas happened, but were an exception.

DS3 was the game decisively shifted towards cinematic action with focus on beating bosses. It focused on the Roll Souls gameplay, without improving it and made all other options shit or impractical. While largely trivializing dungeoncrawling at the same time.

ER just keep piling on more bullshit on top of this formula. At this point we have bosses which give only slightly bigger attack windows than Nightmare King Grimm - in the game which still has stamina - and bosses with attacks which are literally impossible to react to, unless you've recognized their wind-up animation. We have demi-bosses with effectively unlimited stamina that attack without a pause. And so on. Ashes is just a quiet admission that the balance is a mess. Paying attention to what and where you fight is pointless, because weaknesses and immunities are counterintuitive (as we all know, bleed still destroys 95% of the game, including countless undead and golem enemies) and nearly all serious fights take place in flat, featureless arenas. The same fact also makes it much easier to just cancel nearly the entire gameplay loop, once you get a broken build. While in earlier games magic, for example, tended to enable the easy mode on bosses, you still struggled in fights (both bossfights and normal ones) where opponents appeared almost on top of you. This is no longer the case with the ER meta builds.

What's up with Nightreign being tagged as a coomer game on Steam?
I don't think I've ever seen an actual game being filtered like this.

Refund received for Nightreign. I had naive hopes for the concept, but this sucks. The timeframe feels too restrictive, requiring a level of optimization that I neither want nor enjoy.
Boss movesets made with a three man team in mind are an awful idea and I hope this is the last we ever see of it.

Steam users think they are all comedic geniuses so they often add irrelevant tags to game because it's hilarious tm.
But you are playing this piece of shit for hours on end like the retarded cocksucker that you are.
sorry you can't appreciate shitting on a game with the boys. shitty games aren't the only things that are more fun with friends, the whole of life is.

The annoying thing is I think there's the skeleton of a fun game in here, but every aspect of the difficulty is overtuned in a way that makes it nearly impossible to keep up with the pace of match if you fall behind in levels, gear, or flask upgrades. I have no problem with difficulty in regular singleplayer focused soulslikes, but when the difficulty has more to do with the systems of the game itself being flawed, and the learning curve is "go faster" instead of "git gud", then that's bullshit.

When I die to a boss in base Elden Ring, it's a teachable moment about their attack patterns. In Nightreign you can have perfect knowledge of how to deal with a boss defensively, but because you're down a level and didn't pick up any good gear on your route, you're just stuck doing chip damage for ages, what lesson am I supposed to learn from that failure? There's no skill required other than the metagame of being able to route levels and upgrades within a tight timeframe, and praying the RNG gifts you a better weapon or at least ones with good passive buffs.

I think what pisses me off is that it isn't even a good fan service spinoff. Dark Souls fans get like 4 mostly forgettable fights, so the crossover factor is weak, and Elden Ring fans get a bunch of Night Lord OCs with no attachments to the game this shit shares a title with and Margot, who I've fought probably 15 times from various NG+ runs and new characters.

This 'alternate timeline' premise could allow for fucking anything fans might actually want to see. How about a Ranni fight? Maybe Marika? Godwyn? Miquella? The Gloam Eyed Queen?

Fucking talk about dropping the ball.

It seemed like if nothing else that was the big pitch for this game, no? I still think that's kind of lame anyway because it's a straight copy and paste of boss fights from other games you've already played, but for a feature that was touted as this big selling point it is super underwhelmimg. Nothing from Demon Souls? Bloodborne? I'm sure the rights to the likeness of bosses from those games are tied up in legal limbo, but what was stopping them from just making legally distinct knock-off models and names for bosses from those games and otherwise just copying the movesets?
