Elden Ring

I’ll never turn down “more Dark Souls”, whatever format that might be in, but I think there are a lot of things they could improve on. If they make another massive open world game like Elden Ring I really hope they keep the world more contained; there were many times where I felt like the size of the world diluted and spread out the interesting content too much.

Personally I would rather have another Bloodborne or Sekiro but I don’t have high hopes for either

I might have been dreaming or having strokes in the astral plane but I have a vague recollection of Miyazaki saying something about their next game being smaller in the sense you describe. I don't think he was talking about Duskbloods either.

I think they wanted to do this kind of an open world once (or twice if you count SOTE) and give it a good shot, instead of committing to it until the end of time. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you

The last few pages here of people fighting over "muh lore" is pretty funny.
I mean... I'll talk shit if my ability to do a lvl 1 all boss run without upgrading weapons is questioned, but if someone disagrees with my lore theory that Miquella was a creepy troon faggot I don't care, to each their own.

I mean the appeal of fromsoft games will always be the gameplay, they can remove all the dialogue and item descriptions and I wouldn't really care that much.

being so "above it all" just makes you sound like a smug faggot.

FROM games aren't written like masterpeices, its mainly the presentation and world your in, that builds intrigue in its background, if you just like the combat, that's great, plenty do.

I'm not above it all whatsoever, in fact I'm pretty much within your striking range and guess what!
You disrespected me! You wounded my ego!

Wanna go? Wanna throw down!?

What do you mean was? DID YOU GO AND KILL THAT SWEET LITTLE GENTLEMAN

About the appeal of these games, I'm happy to say I happen to like it all. Even when it sucks. The gameplay (which of course is the most important) can be damn solid, the art is fantastic no matter how much they take from Berserk, the music fucking rules, the atmosphere and story bits manage to hook me in and there's usually a neat sense of adventure and discovery accompanied with just the right amount of stress.

I even get some retarded pleasure from the voice lines (in most other games I'd rather have NPCs be completely silent and/or nonexisting). Perhaps the scarcity of them adds to it, or perhaps Miyazaki chokes and beats the shit out of the voice actors until they get it fucking right

However I know one guy who is gameplay only. He plays Dark Souls 1 over and over again, a few times a year, with the same fucking club and with the same armor, in the same way and everything in the same order. Every time I question him, the answers bring just more confusion. Godspeed to that weirdo, may his Dark Souls forever remain unchanged
