Forget boomers, how can anyone really make sure the voice they're speaking to is legit? Sure, right now it's pre-recorded and there are some quirks that give it away if you listen closely. But what about when this gets good enough to use it live? And when all the kinks get worked out?

Tbh all this ai voice and video shit really worries me because you can cause so much chaos. And worse, you could have legit audio or video confirmation of some politician committing a crime, yet soon they will be able to play dumb and claim it's a deepfake. Or the government itself will get rid of innocent people by creating deep fakes and claiming they're legit.

I don't see how we're going to be able to trust shit within the next few years.

Yeah, that's just not going to be possible with this round of the tech. Although they manage to get pronunciation mostly right, and stress and intonation are spot on, it has absolutely no ability to emote whatsoever. Without some ability to indicate where to drag out your pronunciation, boost volume, shift intonation, or any of the other million things humans do naturally to emote for emphasis (or what the fuck ever), it will only ever be useful for those cases where a lack of emotion (or rather a fixed emotion) is acceptable. Surprisingly you can still pull off a lot with that.
