The only president that deserved a 3rd limit was TDR. Never has there been such a luminous man since.

FDR was the guy who put Japs in concentration camps because Pearl Harbor.

In his third term....which can only put ourselves under the assumption that if a president is president for more than 2 terms, the power can go to someone's head, even moreso than before.

It should be a sort of Triumvirate, I generally agree that one man can not do what a President is supposed to do. But I have a deep and proud disdain for the political class, that have essentially become roaming politicians that choose their constituency. The government was set up so cletus, elroy, and rufus could decide on which guy would be the one to represent their hog farms. Instead some piece of shit from Yale wedges themselves into their spot to help their buddies in Big Oil.

if by "eliminate term limits" you mean "raise a philosopher-king through an election in which only landowners and veterans are allowed to participate" then I'd take you up on that idea
otherwise, no, that's retarded
edit: actually. no. eliminate term limits, but set elected representatives' salaries at the federal minimum wage. it's perfect

I think as a bare minimum we should do away with the 4 year presidential election cycle and go with a single 8 or 10 year term. You can only serve once, but you get a full decade term so you don't waste half of the first term preparing to run again.

Imo term limits should be stricter but terms should be more generous.

I think it's better to have the option to kick the guy out halfway through if he sucks.

They'll still get huge cash infusions from lobbyists and cushy jobs in corporations after they leave office.

Problem is that presidents have an inherent advantage election wise because of "experience" and this advantage would just grow bigger and bigger
which means we'd really only change presidents if a recession or depression happens.

The election cycles are a necessary evil, otherwise politicians would in DC taking bribes and trying to actually do something. Have you seen how bad the government fucks up nearly everything they touch? Do you honestly want more of that?
