Most universities do in fact require a "general education" curriculum of math and science. Personal responsibility isn't something you can learn in a crash course; it takes years of development in certain situations.

Heinlein once posited only people who have experience in public service should ever have a say in how others live their lives. I think the modern social justice movement adds credence to that idea.

Some have dropped math requirements. I guess you've been absent in observing the Sociology/Women's Studies/Social Justice courses they offer too, which teach everyone is responsible for you except you.

Pretty sure the state is really bad at solving social problems and great at exacerbating them.

I agree. Major AIDS orgs lobby for spreading it to be decriminalized, especially in Canada where the laws are some of the strictest in the world. Why does no one care about the human rights of people who've been infected with STIs? My belief is that it should not be a legal immunity when you transmit and did not know your status, they should be persecuted for being neglient on their duty to know their status.

Ella Dawson apparently just graduated from Wesleyan Uni with a degree in Gender and Sexuality Studies. During her junior year, just shy of 21, she was diagnosed with genital herpes. Instead of privately dealing with it like 1 out of 6 other people in the U.S. who have herpes deal with it, she decided to go the attention whoring route and tell EVERYONE she has herpes.

As you could imagine, a lot of people see through her guise as pure attention whoring. So like any good attention whore she claims she's a victim of internet harassment, and since the elections has been linking her harassment to the "alt-right" and Donald Trump's empowerment of them while heavily siding with Hillary. This got her acknowledged by the Hillary campaign in what appears to be a dictated letter addressed to her, linked above.

Since then she's based her entire identity around her herpes and how she's a victim of harassment because people said mean things about her online.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that STIs are not inevitable. In fact, half the people in the USA will never have one and, of the 50% who do get them, around half the diseases on the table that they can contract are curable.

I didn't even listen to her TED talk but I'm sure she brought up the statistic that by 2025 in the USA, 40% of people will have herpes. Similar statistics exist in the UK. That statistic is so flawed that it's hard to discuss it without just giving the entire concept of statistics the finger. Young people, age 18-25, make up the multitude of new herpes cases. When you extrapolate the behaviors and contagions of sexually active, mostly single, and often careless young people and apply it to children, the elderly, the married middle-aged, etc, you're suddenly going to think that America will soon be one huge dripping crotch sore. In reality, the numbers for those contracting herpes in the West are stable and new cases are most often linked to unknowingly passing it, meaning the carrier did not know he or she had it. Most people will course correct when diagnosed.

Oppression Olympics seldom do anyone any good but this privileged little girl irritates me with her whining. She needs to get on a plane and fly to a place where women need genuine help. Raise money for clean water, fistula repair, and AIDS outreach in the scarier parts of Africa. Set up counseling for rape victims and arrange self-defense classes in India. Arrange medical care for women scarred with acid in the Middle East. Volunteer for a year at an urban domestic violence shelter. These young white girls think they have no privilege and that the bumps in the road are catastrophic for them. Having an easily managed disease and sadness about a boyfriend who sent mean texts will seem very trivial when these pampered girls leave their shiny bubble and see what real abuse and societal harm look like.
