The more I think about it the more I see what kind of a hero ER had been. He is now seen as behind Sodini or Marc Lepine in terms of sheer heroism, though Marc Lepine would get extra points in any case for pinpointing the actual cause of the problem, which is feminism, and as early as 1989 (!). But we mustn't forget that ER was so close to becoming the greatest hero of them all by slaughtering that sorority.
And while it is true that ER didn't seem intelligent enough to see he had options like trying abroad he at least saw what kind of men get women in today's America and described that problem accurately. I thereby grieve for ER but would still put Marc Lepine as the greatest hero, due to his body count and due to just how early it happened.
Feminism is a symptom of terminal disease in society. Even frickin' Stalin abolished it in USSR because he saw it would destroy his country.
