That doesn't sound like something the police would say (though maybe police do talk that way in California Beach Communities, can @The Dude assist here?), so who knows. Shifman is the family's lawyer interfacing with the media, and the quote comes from him.

But in truth, looking at the videos except for "Retribution", there aren't any threats against anyone specifically (even that one isn't specific, but would probably be enough for someone to be held for a minute, since it appears to be an imminent threat). They're creepy and weird and unnerving but you can't arrest a person for that without a complaint from someone saying, hey, this guy filming me is creepy and weird and unnerving.
 
I have a friend who goes to school out there and lives not far from the area. They're fine, thankfully.

That said, this idiot sounds scarily similar to some of the guys I shared a floor with one year, and that's... quite terrifying.

Not getting laid wasn't this guy's reason for doing this. I'm sure he honestly believed that his unhappiness came from that but had he gotten laid then he would have still found himself feeling empty. Too many guys put so much emphasis on losing their virginity that they view it as some kind of catalyst that will rocket them towards happiness. His obvious inability to have a meaningful relationship would have always kept him feeling unfulfilled. He probably would have been one of those guys that went on to kill their ex-girlfriends because he'd view her more as property than a person.

Also, sooner or later he would have to deal with the fact he was gay.

It's the same thing I already said in chat. Maybe there's really nothing about money or cars that make you attractive to women, but rather the kind of people confident enough to have these things are the ones who are best at getting women.

In fact, if there's one thing I hope the incel crowd takes away from this tragedy, it's that money, cars, and looks aren't the secret sauce to getting a woman. I hope this turns everything on their head so they finally realize and admit they're wrong and get to the actual problem: themselves.

Why? His personality is terrible and he was obviously disturbed. People pick up on something "Not being right" for the most part. I wouldn't be shocked if some of his issues became more obvious the more he talked to a girl.This guy isn't charismatic at all. Once a girl showed some interest I imagine him dropping his guard and letting the crazy spaghetti spill from his pockets.

The guy had convinced himself he was pretty much better than the reincarnation of jesus, while at the same time perpetually dehumanizing women and constantly insulting everyone that wasn't him. It really doesn't take a genius to figure out why nobody wanted him. Even if he wasn't a psycho, the guy was quite clearly a massive tosser.
