I'm gonna admit. I kind of fell for the grift. I mean I knew Elon had ulterior motives for latching onto the right wing so hard after being a reddit liberal just a few years ago, but I assumed it was mainly him trying to do his rich people stuff in the background (like goading Trump into more tax cuts for corporations). Which sucks but sorta accepted as reality of a hyper capitalist world. I also knew he was gonna hire jeet h1bs since it's something literally every corporation does. What I DIDN'T expect was him going full retard on this and actually wanting to increase indian immigration by 1000x while calling whites dumb to excuse importing a gazillion Indian slaves.

The way I view it, his pivot the last few years was probably due to him genuinely not liking the way things were going and being able to see that this would eventually negatively impact him. He is far too autistic to just sit back and let everyone else tell him what he needs to go along with the way that every other billionaire does to be allowed the success they have.

What he is failing to understand is that the Trump movement of the last decade has been more than just a reaction to how things are going, it has also been about fixing a lot of the underlining issues that have caused society to reach the point that it has now. While Musk probably understands some of that, he doesn't understand that things like cheap foreign labor are part of the problem and is connected to the instability that he has been growing afraid of.

In short: Musk either wanted to just roll things back only so much to the way they were not super long ago, or he is merely too stupid to understand how a lot of these issues are connected. He basically wants to be able to have his cake and eat it too.

I think they know they have a fine line to walk since Musk reclaiming Twitter was a big component of why they were able to have the success they did in the election. That is why I am not overly antagonistic to Musk on this: realistically he can see the pushback and responses from people on this issue. He can educate himself on the matter and change his opinion for the better.

However, he instead seems to be falling into the same trap that every autist falls into by making this dumb position his hill to die on and lash out at everyone over it. This very thread on here is going to grow significantly based on how long he continues to let this go on for.

Musk turned against the Democrats only because he was denied what he considered his rightful seat at their banquet. Up until he bought Twitter, he was mostly known for electric cars. Just by that fact, you know his natural allegiance was to the people who wanted to forcibly eliminate the internal combustion engine. I'm not sure what happened to put him on the wrong side of them, it could be as simple as his kid trooning out. I tend to think it was more to do with his ego and not getting everything he wanted from them. Probably because he didn't want to deal with the autoworkers unions and thought he could run his factories without that powerful democratic party element. Well, it doesn't matter, the electric car guy decided to back the "drill, baby, drill" president.

So the big question is, how much influence does he have over Trump. He's just taken the opportunity to shit all over Trump's economic nationalism, what's next? Perhaps he'll say, "We need strong action on climate change which means eliminating gas powered cars." We'll see, and we'll see how Trump reacts to this stuff. Musk does not, and has never, believed in "Make America Great Again," he's out for himself and to Hell with everyone else.

Considering the whole talking point of Indians only hiring other Indians whenever they get into a business it's not really surprising that such a situation played out.
