You almost have to feel bad for Elon. He has that autist naivety, like I truly don't think he understood what he got himself into when he stepped into politics. He seems to feel genuinely betrayed. He must've thought it would just be all epic memes and he would just get to turn USA into some lolbertarian experiment. Now he realizes he can never live a normal life and is freaking out. Once you join the revolution there is no turning back, the System will try to destroy him for as long as he lives.

Given Elon's temperament, it is believable something like this happened. He just jumped in expecting to be able to run things like a CEO that acquired a new company, without considering that politics requires working with people as opposed to just telling them to SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN.

I find this unlikely. He's a billionaire who still has two (?) functional companies, worst case scenario for him is being a billionaire social pariah like Minecraft creator Notch. And best case scenario is Elon successfully regaining (some) social credibility by claiming Trump "tricked" or "manipulated" him.

So if this is the Musk party, he's going to have a hell of a time getting that boulder up the hill. Outside of Silicon Valley, he's not going to get a lot of traction as the "based technocrat." The people who would readily plug their offspring into the IoT would hate him because he cares that the Boer farmers are getting killed, and the people who want more MAGA populism are not going to readily put in brain chips and nanite suppositories. The fact that he wanted infinity migration is going to be a hard sell to people who saw their hometowns ravaged by Somalians and jeets. Does he just think he'll be able to purchase back everyone he pissed off when he headed the org that cut off their slush funding?
