Worst if all are the Indians. Indians are nearly never top class talent, and they only hire their own. Introducing more of them is self destructive.
This happened to me. Without revealing power level too much:
Interviewed for Director/management position at Major Internet Shopping Site That Also Makes Movies And Ships Stuff in Like A Day in 2024. Position was managing something in APAC from Tokyo.
Where did this company recently move APAC operations to? Why, India of course? Why? Because the woman in charge of the division is Indian! It used to be in Tokyo. But, something something India!!
Whatever. I’m extremely qualified for the job. It requires Japanese fluency and native English skills in a segment of the industry where very few native English speakers with my background/experience also speak Japanese. I wouldn’t have to move.
I practice with a friend who works at said company with their stupid special interview questions. I have examples and numbers and metrics. I am ready to SLAY.
Interview was awful. Indian lady just blathered on and, when she did ask about me and my skills, all she wanted to ask me about was THE JOB I HAD FROM 2010-2013. My first job. A job that is for new entries into this industry. I was dumbfounded. I had never felt so disrespected in a senior-level interview.
My boomer mom has been a secretary in Big Tech since the 80s. She’s seen it all, and she CONSTANTLY complains about Indian directors and managers. She told me, “You watch. They just wanted to hire another Indian. They only hire their own. It happens all the time at [major CA tech company she works for.]” I told her she was being racist.
I poked around to see who they hired. An Indian man who doesn’t speak Japanese, living in India, managing APAC operations.
My mom was not being racist.
This is a real issue with these retarded visas. I saw them becoming an issue when I still lived in the U.S.
