Simple enough. I used to fix and flip cars because the auction used to be cheap. Now it's a shit show because the cars I pick cost money and the parts for them are even worse. I used to be in a niche market for specific cars people wanted and now it's not worth the headache.

AFAIK this recall is cos the stainless steel trim piece that runs up the A pillar and over the doors is attached with some shit like double sided tape and, when travelling at speed, it can transition from exterior trim piece to cyberpunk hunting boomerang flying down the fucking road at 60mph.

I can understand desiring to have dozens of kids with beautiful women. Hell, it's the ultimate male fantasy. Even if you want to be the Western version of a sultan, you'd think that you would:
1- Choose the mothers of your children very carefully.
2- Provide an excellent quality of life, considering that, you know, you're the richest man in the world.
The mother of your children having to tweet at you about your kid being sick and needing financial support is ghetto shit. To those people, the idea of having a kid is nothing but fetishism.

It is, until you spend enough time around beautiful women and work out they're just like everyone else (but worse because being beautiful has given them a pass on most of their bullshit). Then it becomes a case of your second point, choosing your partner carefully.

It is like pricks who drive Harley's and sport cars. They're not driving them because they like them, they're driving them because they think other people want them and that therefore gives the prick the idea that he somehow has value because of what he possesses, not who he is.

Elon Musk is quickly becoming the greatest example of this very thing. The guy can't be content just being, he exists entirely on how he thinks other people perceive him. He doesn't enjoy videogames, but he enjoys being seen as being good at videogames. He doesn't really enjoy knowing about what he's talking about, he enjoys being perceived as knowing what he's talking about He really doesn't enjoy the beautiful women he's gotten to throw a leg over, he enjoys showing everyone he has. He's the Xbox kid on crack.

Money can buy you a lot of things, but genuine respect and credibility it cant. Elon's entire point of existence, his only use, is to serve as an Aesop's fable for other people to learn this lesson.
