Emergency Alert System Fans

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I just assumed people paid as much attention to these as they do tornado warning alarms, i.e. none. I remember having customers asking me or our management to shut off the sirens because it was bothering them as they shopped ( from the sound of it one was posted right over our ceiling). No comprehension that it was signaling "Godawful fuckshit weather is HERE!", nope they just wanted to browse the pattern books for hours on end in the quiet.

Hey, this may be a totally inappropriate Necrobump, but with the recent rise in "Analogue Horror" as a genre, I find it extremely interesting how it re-contextualizes this community and the thread about it. Were these people actually on to something brilliant, and were just misjudged? Is the genre itself a weird evolution of this hyperfixation? Is it all just a total coincidence?

I'm glad this got necro'd because when I was younger I watched the EAS Experience all the time, but muted the video when the tones played in the beginning because they freaked me out so much.
As for your comment @Therealhomor, that's actually a really good question. I haven't watched a lot of analogue horror, but it does sound interesting. I feel like it was one of those things that didn't catch on at first, stopped for a bit and then came back even better. If that makes sense.
