I didn't see one, so here's a thread for all the first responder farmers to discuss their job, stories of calls they've been on, why igels are way better than king tubes, and so on.

I'll start with my favorite call so far;
Called out to a young man asleep in a gas station acting altered. Get there, see this younger guy curled up in a little nest by the coffee dispenser. He wakes up after a bit of prodding, real drowsy and half coherent. Cop was there with us, said he kicked the guy out two other times before this earlier that day. Get the kid's name, then two more, decide to check his wallet for ID. Nothing except a woman's credit card. Kid is very compliant, we're able to get him onto a stretcher and load him. Very slow moving to get on, after he's loaded he passes out. Turned out he was a psych patient discharged a few days prior. I hope he's doing better now.

A drunk guy cut himself shaving. It had stopped bleeding by the time we arrived. He insisted on being transported to the hospital and became very hostile when we said we weren't going to. We wouldn't have even showed up but he lied to dispatch about how bad it was. It was just a normal shaving cut

I’m not EMS, sorry, but I really want to share this: my favorite reason I’ve seen for someone being admitted was a guy having homocidal thoughts who claimed to have “shot several people on the bus this morning with finger guns.”
You might not be EMS, but you were the first responder.

I'm set to take the NREMT within the next few months and can't wait to get in with the local ambulance company. What didn't you like about the work?
All the guys at the firehouse hate being on the medic. Most of them have absolutely no interest in EMS, but are forced to do it because they work for a cross-trained/dual role department. And the medic is always the busiest truck in the station. Everyone is happy when they can finally bid out on the engine or ladder.
