Encounters With SJWs/Tumblristas Offline or In Unusual Communities

Saw a walking, breathing Tumblr account today. Was a teenage girl with a short haircut trying to look like a "smolboi" or whatever it is transtrender girls call themselves when they play out their yaoi self-insert fantasies. She had no less than 4 large metal pins on her shirt saying some variation of "I'M TRANS" and an actual label on her shirt saying "he/him." :story:

The easiest way to tell if someone is a transtrender is that they constantly announce that they're trans.

I can respect that actually.
He/Him is atleast not completely made up and the label and pins is better than them losing their shit when I do not call them uniself and they have the additional benefit of showing me that this is an individual who I should avoid like the plague.

That's true. I once encountered a retail employee with a they/them pin. The pin informed me 1) how to speak in the situation should any pronouns arise (but why would they..) 2) to never engage with this person outside of their job.

A relative of mine is a teacher and had her students do some arts and crafts things to learn about other cultures.

A parent contacted her to ree that it was cultural appropriation.

The whole point was to teach about other cultures.

You can tell that person won't last longer than a month.
If being "misgendered" when you have to wear your damn pronouns on your vest ticks you off... You're not cut out for retail. He'd probably faint and die when a crotchety old guy accuses you of trying to rip him off when his card doesn't take.

good" and "evil" are social constructs or some bullshit
Like you said, by that "logic" "problematic" things shouldn't be "called out." But of course since logic is an area where SJWs don't exactly do well in, of course they're still going to criticize people they don't like for doing stuff they don't like.

Also it reminds me of this New Age bullshit where good and evil are claimed to be illusion -- that's been around since at least the 1990s.

This one may not be super interesting, and it's a bit of power level, but I've got a story to share.

So I started staff training for a writing summer camp job recently, and I've been getting along with almost all of my co workers (going to parties, etc) , but I notice that the camp has changed quite a bit since I last worked there. For one, there's always this one person they avoid inviting to our outings. And I figured out why.

This person- let's call her Alana- was the one major social justice warrior who took part. I generally don't care much for social justice crap but generally leave it be if the others aren't too pushy about it. Alana was not like that.

Everything started when apparently, this was the first summer when we had to undergo sensitivity training (which in reality was a trans man bitching about how too many of us were white for 2 hours). We got speeches about white privilege (although a few of us came from poor areas or lived out of RVs), feminism, gender and all that- but the big thing that stuck out was arguing that we need to introduce more nonbinary and trans characters in our stories... Even if they were completely unnecessary.

Gee, I wonder who could have possibly talked to our boss about including this stuff? Could it be the only nonbinary troon in the group who wouldn't shut up about this stuff?

It's a bit frustrating to have to work all this stuff in when it's completely unnecessary. I don't think I've ever had a conversation with Alana where they didn't bring up being nonbinary just for the hell of it. And I have to work with her for the rest of the summer....

EDIT: Another Alana story happened today, while we were having our weekly writers fair. She threw a temper tantrum because the situation called for us to falsely accuse people of something. Of course they went on a tirade about how false accusations are evil and completely refused to participate in the rest of the event for the children. Eventually the group caved in and let them be the sole voice of reason, relatively speaking. But it's ironic that a person like that would have that title.

It also seems that this nonbinary person has a serious problem with overreacting and false accusations. Interesting.....

Must be an arts thing. There's a weekly writing workshop where I had a minor encounter. There was one trans chick that was screening her manuscript for an urban fantasy novel. First paragraph, second sentence was the character announcing that they have "they/them" pronouns and the first antagonist is a kooky Christian fundamentalist.

I was also told in this same workshop that I was not allowed to use the word "handicapped," and saw someone else get chastised for using the word "crazy." One guess who was the one complaining both times. She was at least polite about it, which is why I humored her most of the time. Ended up trying to jump the Atlantic in early 2017 due to the election, but I think she ended up finding a decent job elsewhere in the States that she couldn't pass up.

That's kinda dumb, what if I wanna write a short fantasy novel about a handicapped crazy goblin?
Would I just call it the disabled insane goblin instead or would that still upset people?

I don't recall the acceptable replacement for "crazy." Funnily enough "disabled" was an apparently acceptable substitute for "handicapped." I guess I should be thankful I could use an actual word from the Queen's English.

I did hear her say "neurodivergence" once so probably that.

EDIT: Fuck, I just remembered. It wasn't her that got all in a tizzy about me using the word "handicapped," it was her then-boyfriend (also trans.) He farted in and out of my life so fast that I completely forgot he existed, but as I now recall, he actually raised his voice over it. Luckily for me that's the worst it ever got besides having to listen to the story of Nonbinary McGee and the Knights of the Rainbow Spectrum. Sucks too, because she was actually really good at painting a vivid picture with words.

It's always urban fantasy with these guys.

Ah, I just remembered this story. About a year ago, I went to a local Japanese cultural festival. Now, while the festival was meant to celebrate Japan and Japanese crafts as a whole, it’s slowly but surely turned into a glorified anime convention that attracts those types. While I was there, I saw a skinny girl with frizzy hair wearing a skirt and white shirt with the following written on it:

I AM A:

:disagree:BOY
:disagree: GIRL
:agree: 50 ALIENS IN A MEAT SUIT

Clearly homemade, because it was written in sharpie.

Six months later, I saw her at an actual anime convention...I knew it was her because she was wearing the exact same shirt.

To be fair that sounds like a funny shirt

Well that's practically the plot of "Meet Dave".
