I want to advocate Kiwis taking up a more active role in editing/archiving ED shit just because of the forums ability to do it and the obvious need for competent people at the helm, but the last few years have demonstrated that anyone with the keys to the retarded kingdom is guaranteed to completely mishandle it over and over and over again, and it wouldn't even be worth it to bother.

Like I'm in no way under the impression it's ever going back to pre-2011, but jesus how about fucking functioning for longer than six month stretches.

honestly fuck them, that encyclopedia has been slowly dying since 2012, most of the actual content creators/writers left the site for various reasons (including dying), the people like the last 5 owners, all didn't give a flying fuck about the website and mostly shitposted with their friends on the forum. Most of whom have given up caring about the site itself as well. Even fucking Oddguy, essentially the ambassador of the site, hasn't been active on either the wiki or it's forum in roughly 5 years, He's basically the Jeb Bush of that website and just as outdated as him when it comes to the inner workings of the organization they are meant to represent

ED's last amazingly researched articles was back in 2014 about all the jackasses involved in gamergate. since then their only "good" articles are about their own members who made jackasses of themselves.

Also like most have said, the articles aren't worth a fuck without the pictures and videos and hyperlinks. But that has been a problem with the site since before Sherrod took them down, i remember one of the links being to a friendster page FUCKING FRIENDSTER and no one bothered to archive them, so that article might as well be in another language for how useful it is, same with most articles written before 2010, because most of the hyperlinks are to myspace pages or other defunct websites, the pictures and videos are all gone as well for various reasons.

Its a damn good thing @Null didn't let them host this site when they offered a few years back, this place would be fucked too. Didn't a few other websites let them host and get massively fucked because of it? i remember a copy pasta archive with like 5 TBs worth of copypastas getting wiped out completely and when the original owner sperged out at them, they all just mocked him and said "get fucked faggot" which really tells you how little they actually care about even the basic use of the site. I'm sure even Oddguy himself is just using this as his latest attempt at an internet comedy career, he's been trying to become someone since the days of the ED Singers and the Metokur forums. I remember his myspace page was dogshit too, since i'm in the habit of dogpiling on him.

It should really tell you something when Sherrod ended up being the best owner and admin the sites ever had. ED has as much need to be around as Maddox does, They should have let Dick thrown their funeral 5 years ago and be done with it

That's what I thought of KF when I made this account in 2014 lol, "this is just a lamer, more restricted version of EDF". I guess the appeal of EDF was that it was kind of an anarchy forum, where you could do or say almost anything you wanted whereas in most other forums there was a strict set of rules and etiquette everyone had to adhere to lest they get banned by the mods (that doesn't mean EDF didn't have its own hivemind or circlejerk groups, but still). The mods of EDF barely did anything, they didn't even intervene when users were posting someone's dox complete with their irl name, address and phone number, most of the time they'd actually join in on it. In fact I think the only thing that could get you banned was posting CP.

I remember doxing especially annoying users became a sort of tradition but it eventually got out of hand, to the point that people were doxing newfags right in their intro threads, and the admin had to step in and ban that shit. I think that kinda contributed to the death of EDF, people were so hostile to new users and EDF got such a nasty reputation that nobody wanted to join, and eventually only oldfags were still sticking around years later.

But I think the biggest factor was that ED kinda faded from the internet's collective consciousness, less popular site=less users finding the forum. That and the fact that not many people use forums anymore with the rise of social media and places like Discord.

I guess they think broken wiki pages of forgotten cows is important to remember, even if context is lost because of missing screenshots. I can't even remember the last time ED did a good page on someone.
