OK, so it's like what zoklet was to totse. Those sites aren't terrible if you were part of that old community, they function like some kind of ongoing online high school reunion, which is less gay than it sounds.
I didn't know the EDF forums users rejected the term EDiots, but their ambivalence towards the wiki makes sense considering the state it's been in for years now.
The forum members openly fucked with the people in charge of the wiki too which is what led to its quick demise once zaiger wasnt around. So many of the powerusers on the wiki were doxxed and harrassed off by the forum members themselves. CallmeMaggot, zero, dr.rice. basically if you looked up who wrote these original articles they were most likely bullied off the site by the forum guys, even the oldfag.
Once a site gets too cannibalistic it's probably doomed. EDF's only rule is don't post CP, so it turned into a den of snakes pretty quick. For all the shit Null gets, he's an international hobo who's autistically hellbent on saving internet freedom, so he puts up with it. Almost everyone who's ever staffed ED was some drug addicted, apathetic nutcase. The site really never had a chance for stability once GirlVinyl fucked it.

The KFs will probably never leave Null's hands. Barring some catastrophic attack, it'll either end with him voluntarily shutting it down for one reason or another, or in the event of Null's death.
Instead we'll get nu-Kiwifarms which will be ran by a Zaiger equivalent and which like post-Girlvinyl ED will start off good, funny, and successful (if a bit annoying in places like how all the pictures were only thumbnails) and then decline into all sorts of infighting, lolcow owners, and worst of all, irrelevance. Maybe it will have a mod who's cucked by furniture when trying to shoot up a school like nu-ED had.
Slaying the tyrant seldom results in improvement. ED, Libya, Iraq, etc. All you do is create a power vacuum, which is more conducive to disparate conflict, infighting, balkanization, or in the case of a website, autistic sped fits, than stability and structure.
Makes me wonder what country would Kiwifarms be, now that I think of it... KF after all is a relatively new site in comparison to ED. KF started in 2013, originally focusing on Chris but KF became its current form of a lolcow website after the Deagle Nation saga (I wasn't around for that so I dunno where to date it, 2015 I guess?).
The KFs is a melting pot of autism founded by a man who loves freedom, so it has to be America.
Most of it was done with malicious intent and no with real reason for it. EDF was filled to the brim with wackos and attention whores which also lead to a lot of infighting on the forum itself and many threads would end in a shit-flinging contest between two or more users. If you want to get an idea of the worst sort of people that EDF attracted then I'd recommend the article on the faggot of the year award. (preferably on the Wayback Machine)

No, the EDF was quite active at one point. There was a time it has thousands of threads and tens or hundreds of thousands of total posts. With all that post history gone forever there isn't much incentive for people to start over. EDF is just another dead forum, as almost all of them are. I really don't know where people post on the internet anymore, but they sure as hell don't on the EDF.
Thanks for reminding me of the fact that I was present for the Romeo Rose drama, it fucking blows that the original thread is now officially lost.
I can remember lurking EDF back in the day for the cow threads, now we have KF and it's a lot better.
