Entire Rust moderation team resigns

Imagine actually programming in rust. I can't handle the rust community or rust enthusiasts and their incessant need to reprogram everything in rust then brag about how awesome their rust version of whatever software is. Every time I see people talking about rust it's shit like 'oh gee golly gosh, rust is so safe and secure. It holds my hand and stops me from doing dumb shit. Tee hee. Isn't rust so great. Tra la la la la. We're a safe community where you can be your extra special snowflake self. Rust is your very own personal hugbox where you can feel safe when you program.'

Yeah and then you have to install 30 fucking dependencies just to use their "<x> but in Rust" resume padder. Certain YouTubers kept hyping up newsboat, then I looked at all the dependencies it needed and said nope. Same thing with alacritty. Now it's spread its tentacles into Python via setuptools-rust and packages that use it like Cryptography.

Code of Conduct doesn't sound too different from the typical left-leaning forums I've been to over the years but sounds like it leaves too much to interpretation when it comes to power-hungry tranny jannies, as they'll probably conduct background checks on you for wrongthink.

You don't need to dig very deep on resetera.kiwifarms.net to find someone banned for making a light-hearted joke on a VERY SERIOUS THING regarding troons or women.

Is Ashley the attention whore who won't stfu about how she went into IRC 800 years ago and everyone was impressed that she was a 13 yo girl?

I've played around with Rust a bit, it's a fun little language. Obviously anything it can do, C++ does equal or better, but I thought it could have some niche use in some work scenarios, especially in cases where you're working on something that demands low level capabilities, but you're working with coworkers of lesser skill or only familiar with high level languages (such is the case in a lot of Full-Stack Development envs, unfortunately).

Rust would then have the advantage that the compiler enforces a bunch of best practices, which would help prevent a good bit of bad code from even reaching the code review stage, lessening the amount of time the competent programmer has to say "WTF is this shit" during pull requests. Also, possibly even make the shit programmers less shit by forcing them to do things right, or it won't even compile. So, prevent headache for the good programmers dealing with the bad ones, and maybe even allow the shit ones to contribute on some level to something they wouldn't be able to in any other case.

In the cases where you're solo, or all your coworkers are good, but unfortunately that's not always the case in the working world.

Steve "tech antifa" Klabnik is on the Core Team, so if that's any indication of the makeup of the Core Team, this is probably something extremely gay and ridiculous, which might partially explain the reluctance of the jannies to explain what happened since even they know it will be embarrassing.

It's gotta be sex pest stuff.

It's always sex pest stuff with these types.

I have no idea why they spent all this time and effort to make C++ again but with some things randomly shifted around to match industry trends (IE: Javascript) and less standardization.
Also the language abuses macros like it's users abuse kids. If you thought C was verbose I suggest you look at the println! expansion.
Rustaceans brag about their "self hosted" compiler that links up to a giant C++ compiler to function and brag about a possible GCC compiler which will be written in 100% C++

Rust dust-up as entire moderation team resigns. Why? They won't really say
The Rust Foundation is committed to supporting the Project. We respect the independence and the decisions of the Project Teams, and we are aware of the changes made today. We want the Project and the language to thrive, and will continue working to achieve that vision.
Almost nothing new in this article, and 110 confused comments with no mention of that Ashley person.

Yes but they have all been part of the ridiculous code of conduct being brought in. Then they aren't adhering to it themselves.

If you fancy a laugh...

What's special about it? Obviously all the "sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion..." stuff is gay and cringe, but it's pretty boilerplate for any code of conduct in the current year.
Aside from that it's just "don't post porn, spam or harass people". What is there to be amused about?

Rust is now what Java was 20 years ago: a shitty fad that'll die out eventually, but there'll be enough software written in it to justify having jobs solely for maintaining those code bases.

I remember (trying to) work on a friend's discord bot written in rust, either he was exceptionally bad at formatting and structuring his code or the language just always looks like C and Java had a miscarriage.

I also really love it when people do something like a mass step down and then say "oh we don't wanna cause drama" like that's not the fucking idea. I get that the core team is comprised of insufferable cunts who probably can't be reasoned with but just fucking admit that the point of stepping down was to draw attention. If that's not the point, what was? Spite?

This invariably means the people who resigned did some shit, know they did some shit, and that there are receipts. Ordinarily there would be vague accusations and strong insinuations about all sorts of bigotry going on behind the scenes that they just couldn't stomach anymore - and there is some dogwhistling to that effect going on. They're certainly suggesting that someone did something against the code of conduct and wasn't properly burned at the stake 'held accountable' for it.

But it's so generic and untargeted that it's very likely they're afraid of retaliation - and not only that, an effective one. There was undoubtedly some back-channel organising, and seemingly a bluff called. There's something out there though that is causing them to not burn all their bridges, which is highly unusual.

If it comes out, it will likely be hilarious. Until then, wild speculation for fun is all we've got.

Makes me wonder why Josh wants to use Rust for the web framework? Why not use something that isn't gigapozzed (I'm not sure about Web frameworks because I'm not a tranny).
