I remember this guy from years ago, I think he was called like iBook Dude or something and made videos about old Apple products when he had a few thousand subscribers, he was always a bit spergy.

He called himself "the iBook Guy" for a number of years when he resold early 2000s Apple laptops. He changed his nickname to "the 8-Bit Guy" when this business was no longer sustainable and his focus changed to older computers.

Been a while since I've watched his videos. Right now I am doing a marathon of his newer ones because in their own right they are relatively informative. Very unfortunate to see his house get cluster fucked by that storm, I've been seeing the spergy memes by other leaves riffing on Texans not being able to take the winter. Like no fucking shit, their infrastructure isn't designed for polar vortexes, just like a lot of the more Southern states.

I am glad he is in good spirits and is doing his best to make the best out of a fucked up situation. His machine language and assembly video was quite informative and I'm glad to see he made some great progress with his game. At least the storm didn't damage his collection, talk about cosmic levels of luck with that being the only part of his house the pipe burst didn't damage. Hope his home is back in order soon and he can bounce back. The fact he didn't ask for any money shows the guy genuinely cares about his audience.

Interesting man, occasionally enjoy his content, even though he's occasionally a stereotypically awkward nerd (open carrying a 10/22 is pretty awkward, for instance, especially when he has a Glock 19). He's got insurance, so he'll probably be ok for fixing up his house.

Someone once told me that he's Dimebag Darrell's cousin (the Pantera guy), no idea if that's true.

Yeah, here's the video that's from. I was going to post about it this morning but shit got busy:

Not working on particularly rare tech or doing anything particularly innovative by way of repairing it, but there's a neat surprise at the end.

Apparently PETSCII Robots is getting an NES port. He shows off it playing on the restored NES a little. He had it in a real cartridge casing, though since it's not complete maybe it was just one of those SD card readers inside instead of actual burnt ROMs, and it's unclear if he's writing the port himself. Still, as a nerd of roughly the same age, I imagine seeing a game he wrote running on a real NES was quite awesome for him.

8bitguy is one of my "favs". He's almost-cow material, tbh. Between his severe plain-dress wife, living directly next door to his parents, his start as a computer scrapper (literally a garbage man for computers), his weird obsession with guns, and his incompetence, you really only need two or three of those to intersect for lols.

Anyways, that's why he keeps destroying shit. Because he started out destroying ibooks for money.
