There are only 2 source documents on the troons in Nazi Germany wiki page from the 1900s and only one primary source document. This is not an wiki article on trannys being persecuted it is just about their existence, and there is ONE document from a contemporary source.

From memory I think it’s just one or two. The institute also did things for transvestites/crossdressers (which Tony has posted about) but there’s no reason to think the numbers involved were anything but small either.

I’ve seen some claims online that the institute was looted to destroy the records of crossdressing passes issued to Nazis but I doubt it. (The passes were issued by the police on the advice of an “expert”.)

Far more likely is just that the institute appeared to go against “traditional values” and could be used as a symbol of the supposed “degeneracy” of the Weimar period. (Despite the institute’s attempts to “cure” homosexuality and very racist research into other cultures.)

There was some tweet claiming that trans books were burned by the Nazis and that troons were one of their main targets, and she quote-tweeted with something like “did this even happen?”. I do also actually wonder at what was actually burned.

The entire event was the Nazis trying to pretend there was mass support for their agenda so they sent out "the people" to find all the degenerate books in Germany for a great big burning across the entire country on a single day. So a bunch of Nazi party members went around in the major cities to places that sounded like they had books and gathered them up for a burning. Only it rained and other local events caused this not to happen on a single day like planned. Berlin was able to burn so that's why it was "first" and the Institute's stuff got burned "first" because it was in that great big pile from Germany's largest city.
