Escape from Tarkov - something something insert Russian memes here

G0AT went and bought some cheats to show how prevalent it is.
After watching this video. I'm fucking done. Fuck this shit, I'm out.
It was fun watching the troon mods on the tarkov subreddit lose their shit trying to contain that video. Also I doubt BSG is gonna do anything meaningful about it, as far as I can tell they are just a bunch of Russian grifters.

Well that was a shame, half the video was just Luke from LTT talking bollocks and crying about the holy gamer 'wiggle' being profaned.

There have been several wiggle test videos on Tarkov over the past three or four years by now though so it's nothing really new to me, I would go find them but nigger-retard youtube makes it difficult to search for old videos. One I saw before mostly focused on labs, which has always been a hacker hotspot ever since they added keycards for it.

I knew cheating was bad from all the (head, eyes) and the grenades raining around me when I'm running.
I had already stopped doing solos, and I'll probably stop doing groups with friends soon. Still the video was a gut shot

Yeah, that video is a definite shot to the groin for BSG; they'll have to implement something quickly or suffer a pretty significant drop in the playerbase.
I figure something like a replay system would curtail this but I don't really have an idea of easy it would be to implement.
It's probably not that important to them to retain players. There's no way to monetize people who already own the game, they just need streamers pumping out content, and cheaters getting product bans, so that people keep buying the game

Worth buying? If so why? If not, what are some better alternatives?

From a 1000+ hour player, at the moment, no. Get it when the full release comes, if it does come :optimistic:.

The biggest issue right now is that the developers, Battlestate Games, are very arrogant in approaching issues, believing their way is the best way. They don't take advice from the community often and also don't care (for example the Steam vs Oculus audio fiasco).

Notice the dates. It seems that BSG has copy and pasted their responses to cheating from their posts years ago, implying that they won't respond well to the cheating issue and won't take any advice.

There are sadly no 'better' alternatives because one of Escape From Tarkov's appeal is that the gameplay is so unique that no other games can simulate that experience. Call of Duty and Battlefield tried doing that with raids and extractions and it failed spectacularly.

I can give you games that can give you a sense of Tarkov gameplay from recommendations from YouTube comments and videos, but I can't say they're good representations because I never played them.

SP-Tarkov is genuinely great if you still want your Tarkov fill and as far as I know is basically feature complete. With some AI mods, the bots are basically player-like and employ some really cool tactics. They're consistently fun to play against and frankly I often forget I'm even playing offline.
For newfriends:
Reject cheaters. Reject desync. Reject teenager chads with too much time on their hands, and reject pay to win. With the base game or even a pirated copy you can create a profile and delete it at any time, on any edition you want, and even do fresh starts or cheat starts.

Is there a way to play SP-Tarkov or something similar but with your friends in a co-op fashion?

Holy fuck I'm mad at the internet right now. That g0at youtuber who made that 'wiggle' video released a new one titled 'Am I Banned?'. Assuredly so I presume? Yes maybe probably it's BSG and they're Russian! why wouldn't they ban you for showing shit like this? And no I'm not archiving it cba.

But he compares his efforts in recording the wigglecaust to COMBAT JOURNALISM? That this freedom of speech is very important, AKIN TO THE FUCKING TIANENMAN SQUARE MASSACRE PHOTOGRAPH? [malding intensifies] You're a fucking youtuber commenting on cheating in a video game? Are you for real? Ego gone to your head much? Knob. I recorded free2play CS GO where all my competitive games were hackers, where's my Fetisov reward? Am I tank man yet?

"We need to see the troops crossing the border with our own eyes" *smug smug* "I'm with those troops :3" I bet he's thinking? Suck a dick.

Fuck me I'm mad, fucking youtubers. Mad at the internet reacts only please.

Unfortunately they've put in some measures to avoid a lawsuit and part of this is promising that SP-Tarkov wont have co-op added unfortunately. They want to keep it purely singleplayer in the hopes that it discourages trouble from BSG. Also, it's probably difficult to implement because it functions by hosting a local server.

MTGA if I'm not mistaken is another project that might be doing coop/private servers

I don't know how you can watch that video and still play. 60+% of matches having ESP and item finding? BSG constantly refusing to just add co-op and private servers.

There's literally no point in playing Tarkov unless its SPT Tarkov, because these dumb Russians don't give a shit and the cheaters only add to the 'hardcore' aesthetic they want above all else.

Maybe, but why would anyone new buy it? One google search and you'll find stories about how bad the cheating problem is. All of this has to be hurting growth.

I've just been getting into extraction games lately (late to the party, I know) and I was thinking about buying Tarkov. But I decided against it because of how infested with cheaters it is. I'm sure there are other people out there interested in the game but avoiding it in the hopes they'll deal with the cheating epidemic...

Another thing is that cheaters (eventually) get banned, so what they do is just buy a new copy. This is how Tarkov sustains itself as hardware bans are relatively rare and they don't particularly care about ban evasion. It basically answers the questions as to why cheating is so prevalent in Tarkov when there are a lot of options to eliminate it (Replay system, private servers, etc.) that other games have done in order to curb such behavior.

Basically, the only thing that keeps Tarkov 'fresh' are the constant wipes. There's really no reason for a new person to get in on it anymore, because they'll be competing with people who have not only memorized maps, but cheaters themselves.

I guess that makes sense? But that seems so short-sighted by the devs if so. Maybe I'm being naive but I feel like that kind of mindset is a fast track to killing your game. Eventually you're only gonna have cheaters left. And they might rebuy your game when banned, but the game will never be as popular as it could be if you made a real effort to purge those cheaters from the community.

As for the wipes, that's part of the appeal imo. At the very least, a new player seemingly has the ability to start on the same footing as other players. Ofc map memorization and stuff like that comes with experience, but no legit player can ever be on the same footing as a cheater. And that's the most disappointing part. I was really interested in the game but after learning how bad it really is, I don't think I'll be playing it any time soon.

I thought hardware bans are rarely possible since most cheats come with IP spoofing (not sure this is the correct term, don't crucify me, not a techie).

Does anyone else hate woods? I started playing after it was expanded, and I honestly believe it was a mistake. It suffers from the same problem as shoreline - points of interest are separated by wide swaths of woody nothing. I hate it knowing that I have to do quests there. It's not so bad in single player, but even there where I can turn off bots to not have to fight annoying fights, it's really... well, annoying having to run for minutes without encountering anything of value.
