On Ethan's podcast today he opened by complaining that the majority of his sponsors (including long-term sponsors) have dropped him after the recent scandal over the homophobia shit. Funny how just like two years ago he was getting mainstream sponsorships from companies like HBO and Old Spice and now not even Hello Fresh will sponsor him. I'm fairly certain they're the ones who dropped him, since he always shouts them out on Mondays.

It's incredible how his antics are coming to bite him in the ass here. The apology makes a lot more sense now - he didn't do it because he feels bad for insulting the gay community, he caught wind that his sponsors may leave him unless he throws a Hail Mary apology, which ironically probably brought more attention to it than it would have had he ignored it.
The whole thing is retarded when you think about it though and I am against cancel culture for this very reason - an incredibly lame joke shouldn't lead to someone losing their sponsors. However, as he is an advocate for exactly that sort of thing happening (See: Keemstar and GFuel), I feel no pity whatsoever. I don't even like Keem, but at least he has the dignity to know that internet drama shouldn't lead to full-on canceling:

It wasn’t much of a mystery in the first place. The video clearly showed the masks slip as Dan proceeds to yell at their ungrateful fans to shut the fuck up and go unsubscribe, while Ethan whines about people calling him homophobic for asking his gay fan to disclose info about his sex life live on air. It’s laughable how in his tweet apology, he has to remind people that he’s a very good guy and is uber progressive and means well. At that point, you’d have to be a total fool to believe that this apology wasn’t done as an attempt to quickly save face. Though to be fair, it seems like a good chunk of his (former) fans wisened up and told his sponsors about what a complete tool he’s been, which is why he’s now sulking and acting so defeated.

I'm actually surprised in how so many YouTubers actually start to give a shit when their money is at stake and not when they actually do something abhorrent. No just h3h3 but many other YouTubers over the years.
Also is it me or does it feel like Ethan is close to just breaking down and crying? Something about how red and chubby his face is, makes me feel like he's about to bawl his eyes out on how sponsors don't want to sponsor him anymore. I was expecting to watch him start crying and bawling.

I havent paid attention to H3H3 since they decided to start making the podcast their main thing and then publically ding-donging with everyone they had some sort of beef with. It's funny because nobody actually went and cancelled them, the fans just did it for them in the end.
I gather from the thread this isn't the first time Ethan's tried to be edgy only to walk it back with "oh no sorry for being an asshole I'll be better" - like if you want that ultra woke audience then yeah you can't go around making jokes about people who look like they totally take it up the butt. I could only watch some of that clip of the comments, not because the comments were actually offensive but because they were acting in the most cringe way possible

Like Ethan and his friends constantly say, it's not cancelling, it's holding someone accountable. Ethan brought this on himself by being a violent homophobe, and the proper punishment for his attempted genocide of our gay friends is for him to lose everything.
