EU EU calls for 'gendered language' to be banned, with phrases such as 'no man's land' or 'Joe Public' axed - and 'king and queen' phrased 'queen and king' to put the female first

The EU has called for 'gendered language' such as 'no man's land' and 'Joe Public' to be axed.

A 61-page document advises policymakers, legislators and the media to revise the order of common phrases such as 'King and Queen' or 'brother and sister' in which the male comes first.

It suggests to 'try swapping the order of these phrases sometimes'.

Bureaucrats say 'Joe Public' should be replaced with 'average citizen' and 'no man's land' should be substituted with 'unclaimed territory'.

Tory MP Nick Fletcher has called the guidelines 'nonsense' and argued that the EU had 'far more serious issues' that it should be concerned about.

The 'Toolkit on Gender-sensitive Communication' document compiled by the The European Institute for Gender Equality highlights language that needs to be changed and notes alternatives.

It also notes that terms such as 'shrill' and 'pushy' have 'strong connotations that are strongly associated with only women' and should be replaced with 'high-pitched' and 'assertive' respectively.

It says that 'virile', considered 'strongly associated with only men', should be substituted with 'strong or energetic'.

The famous Star Trek line, 'To boldly go where no man has gone before', is noted in the bundle as an example for which 'women may be subject to invisibility or omission'.

Don Valley MP Nick Fletcher told The Telegraph: 'I think it's nonsense, especially when there's far more serious issues going on at the moment that we need to be concerned about.

'The EU needs to take a good hard look at themselves and think about what other problems are going on in the world at the moment.'

He added: 'We've got wars being waged, an energy crisis and a lot of countries are dealing with the same kind of problems that we are in the UK.

'Things like this are a waste of our time.'

Former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe told The Sun: 'It's ridiculous.'

Nigel Mills, Conservative MP for Amber Valley, told the newspaper: 'This is utter madness. It's an attack on the English language.'

Even though Britain officially left the EU in January 2020, English is still its official language.

Nothing pisses me off more than supposed progressives trying to change and/or censor language, especially for gender nonsense.
They finally managed to push another retarded change in German, where advertisement for medicine usually includes a disclaimer at the end that in case of side effects etc you should ask your doctor or pharmacist. But since German has gendered versions for female and male doctors and retards claim that the neutral form (which is grammatically masculine, but factually neutral) erases women (which it does not, unless you completely misinterpret how language works), they now updated the sentence to say "fragen Sie Ihren Arzt, Ihre Ärztin oder in Ihrer Apotheke" - "ask your male doctor, female doctor or in your pharmacy". The flow is stupid and "ask in your pharmacy" is awkward, but they apparently drew the line at ALSO putting "female pharmacist or male pharmacist".

Anyway, that was something that in fact did not bother anybody (except a braindead minority that should be ignored) and it also does not help with equality and it just cost a lot of money to rerecord all those disclaimers.

I love how the EU, that doesn't even have an English speaking nation in it
They have Ireland and the Scots have said they'd join the EU if they ever go independent.

Of course, they speak English because you speak English, and probably a lot better than you speak French, and you'd probably want to make a Frenchman speak English with you anyways just to piss him off on general principles of him being an arrogant Frenchman who needs to be knocked down a peg.
