What cracks me up is how euphorics like this view God and the spiritual world, as opposed to many religious people. Fedoras love to refer to God as a bearded man in the clouds whose existence should have been proven by now and chortle about how stupid it is for people to believe in Him... and yet many religious people view God as a metaphysical force that exists outside of space of time and can't be so easily personified. So it's euphorics who the ones holding onto the "man in the clouds" mentality.

But "There is no soul! Has a surgeon ever seen one?" is the line that made my eye twitch.

I've never heard anyone ever refer to the soul as something physical in my entire life. Ever. Even by people who don't believe in souls. Everyone's pretty much on board that the soul isn't a physical object like the liver or small intestine that you would be able to see if you cut someone open; it's an abstract essence. It's just like how even non-religious people make a distinction between "brain" and "mind;" the brain is the physical organ that controls the body, but the mind is what makes you you and can't be seen like the brain can.

That... doesn't make sense???? Hasn't OP ever heard of a love-hate relationship? Or that the opposite of love isn't hate but rather indifference? Plus, since when does love "often" turn to hate? Sure, you may get angry or annoyed at the people you love sometimes, but for the most part we continue to be fond of the people and things we love. What kind of relationships does OP have?

I would say that OP must be a blast at parties, but that's implying he's even invited to any.

In regards to all this, the meaning of a soul is something varied. As far as I remember in learning about Greek philosophers, some thought of the soul as being the mind. And that you'll be dead soon enough almost sounds a bit salty.

Theravada Buddhism and certain sects of Hinduism can be interpreted as being rather patriarchal, but most anti-theist feminists don't really care that much about those because they aren't WHITE MALE religions.

Actually, if one studies history, Christianity was originally a woman's religion. Hebrew families in Roman times were taught religion by the mother because the Father would be too busy for such matters. So any religion that caught on did so because the women liked it.

It's the classic "I trust science because it's based on reason and religion is run by corrupt people." Then conveniently ignore the numerous ways science can be corrupted for personal gain, or the notable religious leaders who've contributed greatly to various academic fields.

1) Aren't there rationalist who can in a way be religious?
2) If spirituality is some sort of virus, I'm pretty sure spiritual people would have some IRL version of a blue screen of death or performance slow down.
3) Some children can be in church and isn't showing pornography to kids illegal?
4) While children can be subject to criticism, one should be careful in how they criticize.
5) Do they even know how much time is spent in doing five prayers? From a quick look, they'd spend 15-25 minutes in total. Also, prayer sounds better than Second Life, considering how the latter can have crazy people and all.
