Well, guys, we finally have a retort to the whole "religious people have contributed to science" argument: We shouldn't acknowledge their achievements because religion is still evil and stifles free thought. Oh, and fuck those Christian monks who devoted their lives to preserving and copying ancient texts that would have otherwise been lost.

Is it really so hard for people to acknowledge that religious people can be just as smart as atheists?
It's like how some religious people refuse to acknowledge that atheists can be good and moral without religion. Both generalizations are totally illogical and inaccurate.

wow

I know that this is a thread about Euphoric Atheists, but wow, that is some exceptional euphoria. Especially when the medieval religious mindset saw science and theology as one in the same and that exploring how the world worked was seen as bringing one closer to and to understanding God.

Got a link to that one?

Sure thing! It was in an Ask Reddit thread called "What do you enjoy that Reddit absolutely shits on?" One of the top rated comments is "taking my family to church," which many people surprisingly agreed with. Of course, we can't ever have a nice discussion about religion on the internet (especially on Reddit), so the further down you go the more euphoric it gets. OP's comment chain starts here.

EDIT: Found an even worse comment chain. The euphoria is off the fucking charts.

"Religious people contribute to science too."

"Yeah, but they wasted so much of their lives on religion."

So... Can we assume every euphoric atheist dedicates them self to a full-time study of some sort, hoping to make the world a better place? And that none of them indulge in things like sitting around and masturbating to My Little Pony?

All atheists deserve to be raped and murdered by lions.

Good find, Cosmos! Oddly, the thing I found the most interesting was the comments that basically went "yeah, I'm an atheist, but I like the architecture/the art/the music/etc." Sure, there was euphoria aplenty, but it was kinda nice to see people bonding over the beautiful things we can make, even if we don't share the beliefs that inspired those things.
Gives me hope, y'know?

Now pardon me while I duck the incoming Optimistic ratings.

I hope God exists and He lets all atheists into heaven on the condition they have to read out all their reddit posts in front of everybody.

This is a perfect example on how your conclusion can be correct, but at the same time have all your arguments leading up to the conclusion can still be wrong as fuck. It's almost a work of performance art.
