it is a common sentiment of progressives that it is better to “rule in hell then serve in heaven” and other similar mentality so youre gonna hear it alot if you listen to them on the subject

And an absolute genius has cracked the conspiracy that a church giving out candy on Halloween will be suspiciously located in the parking lot of a church, almost like it’s their parking lot.

One, that’s terrible and those creatures need to be punished harshly (Luke 17).
Two, from 2017-2018 roughly 14,000 children were abused in public school. I couldn’t find good recent data but suffice it to say your kid is safer in church than math class.
In fact, priests abusing kids has had a significant downturn because Christians learned to be diligent and hold their own people accountable after the scandals broke out from the shadows.

My understanding is that it comes from one of the apocryphal books of the Bible (the Gospel of James specifically), meaning it’s completely non-canon and has no weight on Christian belief or practice. The Bible itself makes no mention of Mary’s age one way or another.

I’ve also found this argument stupid anyways since a spontaneous miraculous pregnancy as was attested to have happened to Mary is literally the only way for a young girl to get pregnant without pedophilia being involved.

I'm sure that statistically family and authority figures are bigger threats to children than strangers, but I really can't believe that these people think that a church organizing an event for the congregation's children is a plot to “indoctrinate” them or find a new sex toy. I personally find Trunk or Treat events somewhat corny, but it does provides a safer and reliable experience than knocking on random doors after dark, especially in more rural communities where there isn't really a “neighborhood” to walk around in.

Forget about any religious background, Halloween is a rather secular harvest festival at this time. This is just churches performing their secondary function as a gathering place for like-minded people.

The joke is that Christians are taking over a secular holiday which was originally Christian to begin with and it is causing indignation from the historically illiterate.

As for the trunk or treat, my church used to do fall festivals for people who didn't want to engage with the darker side of the holiday plus it offered traditionally activities like bobbing for apples. Just seems like an update.
