Remember that euphoric "graph" of scientific progress with the crash supposedly caused by Christianity, and the naive assumption that we'd be all Star Trek IRL by now without it?
Yep. The graph that does not account for ANY real history, least of all the loss of scientific activity in Europe following the fall of the Roman Empire. Because the Huns and Mongols were all about physics and chemistry, it was those darn Christians that ruined it for everyone!

I think the increase of knowledge was pretty slow and fairly linear throughout history -- until the Christian-inspired Enlightenment (and Industrial Revolution in England), that is.

edit to add: I saw a rather interesting vehicle. The back window was covered in stickers. Among a "BLACK LIVES MATTER" one and rather vitriolic anti-Trump ones were a number of euphoric ones, like "TOXIC" spelled out in religious symbols. Americans sure like stickers.

There's no better way to convince others that your side is the correct and rational one than by stating that billions of people deserve to be "the first against the wall" (meaning, the first shot at by firing squads) just because they have different beliefs than yours.

I'd love to see this guy try to kill almost everyone on the planet. Even if every single aetheist on the planet tried this they'd be so fucked.

["ban all religion" euphoria]
Because a traditional spirituality of an indigenous people and fundamentalist Protestantism of the USA are exactly the same, right?

Speaking of the USA, why does it seem that all euphorics are Americans?

I used to be peripherally involved with people like this until I saw how authoritarian they are. Most of them seem to want to ban religion and generally trample all over free speech. I doubt they'd be so cavalier with that if a theocracy did the same to them.

I think it has a lot to do with the heavy amount of evangelical Christianity and abuse of it that is present here in the US. With things like Southern Baptism constantly beating people over the head with hellfire and damnation, people like Pat Robertson using faith as a mean to make millions, the amount of scandals around the Catholic church involving kids, the Mormon church being weird as shit, groups like the Branch Davidians making Christianity look fucking loony, and many other such things it's easy to see how people can feel completely disenfranchised by Christianity. Combine all that with edgy teenage rebellion and feelings of inflated and unwarranted intellectual superiority because they may have read some Dawkins and you've got the makings for some grade A euphoria.

I would pull other religions into this but 99% of the time the euphoric types are only taking swings at Christianity. I've not experienced them taking shots ( or nearly as many) at Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, Judaism, Islam, or any other isms you can think of. I'm speaking from personal experience so I might not be totally correct about all this.

Want to know what’s funny? Euphorics often claim to put Atheism as “reason,” and Religion as, “a Hallucination” without even knowing that the concept of reason, and modern science comes from Descartes, who stated that nature could be conquered through number and math.
He came to this conclusion when he took shrooms and had a vision which an angel told him this was so.
One cannot state that Religion is an illusion without knowing that the entire concept of reason is all based on a hallucination.

Seems life in the USA somehow promotes going fanatical with any beliefs, be they Christianity, identity politics, atheism...

If anything, most foreigners complain that the U.S. is extremely apathetic as compared to Europe where people are turning over cars in the streets and firebombing post offices on the daily and were doing so long before any Muslim problems. "Why do Americans never get extreme?" is a complaint I constantly hear from family abroad, politicians, friends, etc. Of course, it could just be the perception of both sides that the other are the crazies, and I'm sure we all look fucking insane to Canada, which of course has its own more quiet problems.

That can’t be. Facebook tells me America is violent because we have guns, and if we just got rid of them, our problems would go away.

The USA is also not as packed-in as Europe, so that might relieve some pressure.

I love how they can't even decide where Easter was stolen from, but they know it HAS to be stolen!

https://redice.tv/news/the-babylonian-origins-of-easter-ishtar
I've seen several refutations to the claim that Easter is stolen but would have to dig to repost them.
I've also heard that Easter eggs are not the result of some ancient fertility ritual, but just Christians that owned chickens. Eggs apparently were also on the no-go list for Lent foods, but since chickens don't observe Lent, they would still lay them anyway. Christians could store eggs longer than milk and would have a surplus of them when Lent ended on Easter, resulting in a lot of eggs being sold/eaten/tossed at heretics on Easter Sunday.

Granted, that should, like a nice egg, be taken with a grain of salt. I don't know the veracity of the tale.

It's almost Easter. So you know what that means!!!

Sorry if this is a re-post.
Much as some euphorics can claim every thing in Christianity is really celebrating a pagan ritual, it makes one wonder if they fail to realize some of this was because a Germanic pagan and the like took some baggage of the old beliefs with them and brought it in with Christianity. All that said, no one in this modern world save for these euphorics will truly give a fuck. Most people just want to eat chocolate easter eggs while going to church, either genuinely or out of lip service.

Remember when the euphorics were on board with the conspiracy theory stating that Jesus of Nazareth never existed
