It's worth watching if you want to take the piss out of everything, though there's sometimes some legit good acts in there.

Here in the UK, everyone complains about political voting...when 90% of the time, we put in someone who came 3rd in a talent contest years ago, or dig up a fossil who hasn't been relevant since the 60's- it makes sense though, Eurovision isn't exactly great for your image, so established stars want to stay away.

When some effort's put into it we invariably do better.

Last time we won though was with a foreigner, make of that what you will.
 
Ukraine won, which is much better than Australia

actually Australia would have teamed up with another european country and hosted it there. most of the time when a country can't host it goes to the UK. we've done it 8 times over the last 60 years.

I must be a masochist as I'm usually hyped for the travesty that is Eurovision but it's been bad-bad lately as opposed to good-bad. I like the novelty/weird shit but there's less since they added the semis.

It never fails to amuse me that we've churned out huge, successful bands - Queen, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Led Zep, The Cure, The Kinks, Depeche Mode and so on. There's talent here but we put forward entries like this


Still, at least tonight will be a laugh with friends taking the piss out of everything.
 
Spain's entry was so fucking terrible this year, oh lord. I've heard nothing but apologies from Spaniards.

So far, Portugal is very likely to win, which is strange, because their song was very meh at best.

Also, apparently the SJWs at Tumblr used to be big fans of Belarus, but immediately turned on them the moment the Belarusians kissed at the final. Top kek.

I liked the repeater la-la bit in Spain's entry but the rest was dross.

I was also pleased to see Moldova and Croatia hop up the board thanks to televotes. I understand juries maybe not being wild on Moldova - but bit puzzled why the juries didn't think much of Croatia or The Netherlands which were both quirky but also showed some level of skill.

Also nice for UK to get a regular batch of points in the voting. Might be too much to hope the standard of potential entries we get improves but fingers crossed.
