WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

This just reminded me of something about Hanako.

As far as I'm concerned, no normal teenager would be this clingy towards an older sibling. Even if they are super-close, I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't try to sabotage their sibling's love life just so they can continue hanging out together. Most people would just talk out their worries with each other, reassure that they can continue to hang with each other, and boom, end of their problems.

The only explanation I can think of is if Hanako suffered from a mental illness that caused her to be so irrationally clingy to her brother (like Dependent Personality Disorder). It could explain why she's away for such a long time- they sent her to a different school to try and get her to be more independent, but it backfired. Sadly this would actually make her somewhat sympathetic and have actual character outside of 'happy, anime girl', so there's a very high chance that Alex will just say that they're 'super, super close' instead.

Nah, if this game was made by someone who doesn't completely rely on ridiculous anime tropes, they would be able to see the unfortunate implications of their relationship and would tone it down while giving a reasonable explanation as to why Yandere-chan sees her as a threat anyway. But this is Alex we're talking about. If he wants his game to be taken seriously, he needs to stop relying on these archaic, cliche tropes.

It doesn't help at all that Hanako was going to be lewd and jailbait at one point in development. The Hanako we see now is a welcome respite in comparison. Doesn't mean that the implications of her relationship with her brother have disappeared at all.

Happiness Of The Katakuris Easter Egg?

Better. It was actually a way for teenage girls to kill themselves back in the day.

tl;dr, teenager was confused about becoming a woman, some sources say it was due to the whole puberty thing, other sources say because lesbian, so she asks her friends for advice. One of her friends suggests killing herself. They go to the top of a shopping centre, but due to a spate of suicides, the shopping centres all have fences and security guards.

So instead, they book a ticket to Mount Mihara, a volcano in Japan, and she proceeds to jump into the volcano. It triggers a spate of suicide by volcano, and tourists staying near the top of the volcano to watch people jump in, until authorities finally build a fence 14 years later, as well as making it a criminal offence to buy a one way ticket to said volcano.

I just want to point out how bland and dry Alex managed to make the game via his writing.

for emphasis:
Picture someone who is a weak lil bitch. Who feels guilt weighing on their fingers for most dark actions they take in video games, and also feels guilty over shit they didn't even do in a video game that was just part of the storyline. To list the details would be obnoxious, but in short, they have to put lots of effort into morally-challenging games, and games where you're made to feel guilty destroy them. Someone who is impacted by even shitty, half-baked games.

Yandere Simulator's basic story is brutal as hell. You're murdering young girls before they can even graduate high school, some with possible budding careers and high goals, some who are sweet and pretty innocent, and others who are relatable to the target fanbase who mostly consists of teenage girls who are likely not very popular in real life.

It's fucked up on several levels, think of all those heartbroken families and lives being cut short, and some characters with deep insecurities or problems never being solved or laid to rest, all because of you.

And Alex has described the game in such a way, has molded it in such a way, that none of that matters. That he can't make someone who teared up over a not really morally-challenging game feel even a pinch of guilt about what they'll do in his because he's just so fucking horrible at writing interesting characters worthy of feeling sorry for.

Alex cannot make someone practically made of :feels: with low standards feel bad for being a monster, even when presented with the right tropes to expand on.
how did he manage to even do that?

Nobody can feel bad because nobody cares. It's the same reason Hatred has no effect at all, it's about an unlikable and emotionless guy who decided to go kill random people for no relatable reason, you might think it's awful at first but you quickly stop giving a fuck. Yansim is effectively the same thing.

Who are we supposed to feel bad for in Yansim aside from maybe Kokona? Ayano? I don't care about her non-feelings at all. Osana? She is a bitch. Senpai? He is a walking cardboard cutout. Midori? Well, she is funny i guess?

Incorrect. If you go back in the thread, you'll see my long spiel on how I thought he could make the game better, entirely instigated by how bad I felt that Senpai would be losing his childhood friend.

Thing is, even then, that's because I've assigned Senpai a personality he doesn't have in-game. At the moment he'd just weakly shout 'oh no she dead' and that'd be the end of it.

Yes, your childhood friend or sister suddenly going missing and never re-appearing (or worse, returning only to kill someone and then themselves) is an awful thought, and most people would feel bad about causing such a tragic thing to take place.

It's Alex's execution of this, and the way he's written his game and the characters to be, that causes it to fall flat and feel weirdly stale. It feels like he took some free lineart for the story and never added his own colors to it, if that makes sense. The hype and idea over it is pretty sad, but the reality of the characters' blandness and how the game will play it out is a let down.

I absolutely agree with this. Even if he'd included some things like cutscenes, most would just skip it, saying "Do i get to kill them now?". So you don't get invested in the characters before they die, and due to the shitty gameplay it's not really fun to kill them either. You just would feel empty inside, like our "protagonist".

This would all be fixed if he just made this a joke/anime-trope game. The fact that he wants/is trying to make the story "serious" is the true killer. MemeDev seems to think the story won't be taken seriously if it's not real-to-life. It's possible to make a fun, good, joke, tropey game. It's ok then for Ayano and Senpai to have no real personalities, they don't need them. It's ok for Kokona to have an unoriginal backstory, the rivals to have single defining tropes, and for body proportions to be exaggerated.

The point of the story would be to cater for the game/game-play. Be sneaky, plan murder, enjoy fetishes. I shouldn't have to stop and think about the consequences of what I'm doing. I'm a Yandere, a concept that itself is already unrealistic and insane.

Well, not only was his reply just as stupid as before, but now he's copy/pasting the same nonsense.

And yes, he copy/pasted that paragraph at least two different times times (as shown here, and here)
It gets a lot worse from here, when Alex replies being told he has no empathy, and the essay long rant is as dumb as one could expect from him.

Jesus.
I have no words, other than this whole fiasco perfectly shows what a hypocritical cunt Alex is. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he truly is a sociopath not unlike a certain character in his own game.

For those who didn't catch the last drama and don't get what's happening, here is the rundown by the guys who were harassed: https://critical-mods.tumblr.com/post/165764178011/um-im-sorry-to-just-pop-up-but-im-not-fully

And a subreddit thread just started:https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_si.../yanderedev_this_isnt_stupid_drama_pisces_is/

Now we wait for Alex to inevitably say he is the victim here...
Thanks, this is very helpful since the thread likes to go into lore exploration and other fantasy content very often.

The drama started one month ago and this guy is the one who argued with Alex first so he is one who got it worst. Regardless, even if it's bullshit or not it's fucking retarded that Alex and the fans are okay with this.

Do you guys remember that time Steven Universe fans harassed one artist until she almost suicided? And you guys know how the fandom is HATED for that until this day? If this guy actually suicides, this shit will not be forgotten. Both the fandom and Alex will be cursed forever.

ESPECIALLY ALEX when he said shit like this:

I don't expect every person to care about what your fans do but at least common sense to protect your brand. Also look at this guy in particular

I thought he was just a blind fan but going by his replies this dude i think he is just baiting edgyness.

This is incredibly disturbing to me. This is a grown man who is supposedly a "professional", more or less openly condoning harassment and bullying to the level of causing suicidal thought and/or action in another person. Also am I right to believe this person is younger, MUCH younger than Alex? Honestly, I have never in my life seen someone who is openly developing a major project stoop this low. Amazing...
