I think the reason Discord is basically mcdonalds for pedophiles is because tons of minors use the free, hip, easy to use, chat program where anyone can make their own private servers, channels and DMs and shit, and they have very little risk of receiving real world consequences beyond having to use a new account when the Youtube batman-wannabe of the week exposes their username, and so many people use the site, anyway, that slipping through the cracks is effortless.

My own hypothesis from years of terminal internet browsing is that the people who make these defenses are one of two cases:

1. Obvious child predators who want to indulge in abusive hedonism while keeping legal benefit of the doubt to avoid prosecution.

2. Lolbert true believers who claim children have the capacity to consent as soon as they get those funny hormone feelings, and that as long as they don't object sexual advances, doing gross things with them should be legal because "muh individual liberties". And of course lots of number 2's can just be number 1's hiding behind false principles.

Probably an unpopular opinion here, but I don't like this kind of hearsay accusations in any form. They are not funny, and if something illegal happened, the police needs to be informed first, foremost and probably exclusively in order to not damage a case, not YouTube audience.

While it's not the most unpopular opinion, I disagree with this. Yes, the police need to be informed first, that's a given. But it's forgetting that the accuser is allegedly 15-16. Teenagers are fucking stupid. They have phones in their pockets, are taught that "police = bad, internet opinion = good" and their first response is almost always to go to TikTok, Discord, or Twitter and vent. In cases like these, the only time it gets passed over to the police are when the parents get involved.
And just to spitball, but if this girl was genuinely being groomed by Yandev on Snapchat and Discord, I'm willing to believe her parents fucking suck at parenting and either have no idea she possesses either of these apps, or believes that she'll be directly punished by her parents taking her internet away. (which would be the best option, but for a zoomer teenager in our day and age, is like being sent to the gallows and it's unlikely she'll open up to them about it.)
