If he said that, he was talking out of both sides of his mouth. At one point, he basically told 8chan /v/ to go pound sand and that he didn't need them anymore. This was during a long period of him being criticized for courting a new audience, primarily made out of the typical Tumblr/social media types and he toned down some things in his game in response to their criticisms. He felt the anons were holding him back or something, and he wanted an wider audience. This was back during the GamerGoob stuff with Anita Sarkeesian/etc. still being relevant, and after he did that, he suddenly got positive press for his game. I could be remembering some of this wrong, but that's what I recall anyways. I've pretty much ignored his existence since 2016 or whenever that was.

Yeah, I'm not going to concede there is a correlation even if there are anime lolcows like there are lolcows for everything. You've obviously never been to Asia where everyone grows up with it, because it's normal there for every part of the public. It's pretty unremarkable vapo-ware imo. Part of this tale is that crowd funding and Patreon type set-ups do not work for delivering games or similar projects. You're always to going to end up with scammers and people that drag shit out so they get the most money for as little work as possible. And why wouldn't they? You're giving them money before they do the work. The profit motive works. When you profit regardless of work output, you're always going to invite laziness and mediocrity.

A Yandere is horror archetype, kind of a Japanese urban myth. It's a longstanding trope when a young, innocent looking girl or woman who seems normal or even shy starts acting like an inhuman monster.

The hook of the game, as I saw it, was it's less about the underage aspect and more about playing off the idea that a young girl could have such a toxic infatuation with somebody that they would think nothing of killing other girls to get him. As a 'roleplaying the villain' game, there's lot of black comedy potential with interacting with these teenage high-schoolers who are all engaged in more high crimes than your average mafia. That's why everyone liked the idea a decade ago. That's presumably the only reason he has volunteers willing to stick it out for ten years.

Surely we can come up with a better, more enticing premise than that that is equally fucked up.
