I always thought adding voice acting that early in development was a stupid idea.
Not to defend his general bullshit, but if volunteers are coming on to do it then really, why not. Where he stepped outta line was actually paying for them and even actively soliciting/waiting for them, since none of that dialog is likely to be final. The upside to early VA is that it makes the product feel better and stand out more, which is good for bringing in more volunteers and public attention for crowdfunding platforms.

He probably is but when one goes down, if you got a hard drive that would classify as a legendary drop for an FBI agent, you don't stick your neck out and draw attention. You do exactly what he did, just try and quietly slip away without being too loud or dramatic about it.
Soon a new Cameron will rise from the chalice and embark upon a white knighting campaign never seen before or ever again.
I'm not so sure - While the community absolutely has no lack of idiots, I would not be surprised if the ongoing damage from volunteer asset removals make Alex reluctant to take on volunteer contributors in any capacity. The remaining volunteer pool is also likely to be of minimal talent - The young and the outcast who have little skill to otherwise gather the attention they're so desperate for. It might not be worth the hassle to onboard them if the work quality is crap.

As funny as the idea is, no. His actual stepping up and accepting he fucked up, even if he desperately wants it to be just a mistake and not a crime, also pulls the entire rug out from under him on active defense. Any critic, any at all, can now pull the "He groomed a child and admitted to it" card as to why you shouldn't support him, and he can't do shit about it. He's lost any hope of 'redeeming' himself in the eyes of his critics with just words, and its unlikely he'll try. The only cure for this is time - double digits of years, at the least.
