He has a profiler attached, so it doesn't count. For a realistic framerate on his computer, see his update videos. He usually skips the most demanding scenes though, he knows uploading a slideshow wouldn't be a good move.

Even in the update videos he's still not getting great frame rates, in the march 2018 progress update he's averaging 20+fps in scenes where Yandere-chan is the only character on screen, so its not a world of difference, plus his specs are fairly decent.

Fog works for a horror game like Silent Hill since it allows enemies to get closer to you before you see them and compliments the dour setting. However in a stealth action game like YandereSim it's going to be a pain in the ass to scout areas and plan murders ahead of time if you have to get close to everything to see it, and of course the fog means you can't easily watch student behavior and routines from a distance either. Even if it makes the frame rate passable, the fog is going to bring in new problems for the game.

But I can see it. Probably come up with some bullshit about people not having the right to judge the game unless they've played 100% of it
Sounds likely.
I can’t wait to hear poor excuses such as
“How dare critics call Megami a bad villain, they clearly haven’t found the 50 minutes cassette detailing her lore which I hid in the 2nd cabinet in the student council room.”

“How dare critics call Megami a bad villain, they clearly haven’t found the 50 minutes cassette detailing her lore which I hid in the 2nd cabinet in the student council room.”

I couldn't imagine anyone playing the game for 50 minutes let alone sitting down to listen to a poorly written, and acted out audio log that was that long.

A drawing that mulbarry to making of miyuki but uh, this bitch's boobs need to go.

"The police department's "perform a forensic investigation in a matter of minutes" device is the limit I want to set for sci-fi technology, and that's purely because it's a convenient explanation for why the school doesn't have to shut down for multiple days while a traditional police investigation takes place"

Or he could have a segment during the multi-day investigation where the player can:
  • Obtain weapons (and remove obvious ones hidden on campus) and covering your tracks so there isn't a paper trail that can lead back to Ayano or whatever her name is (he can even utilize that yakuza guy for this purpose. Have Ayano do side-quests or some shit for the yakuza guy in exchange for weapons that can't be traced back to her).
  • Obtain information/gossip on other students (for blackmail or lowering reputation). You can do this by befriending them and hanging out, so the more they trust they player the more intimate information the student indulges about themselves (but if the player uses the information they get, the student will know that it was Ayano who leaked info, so reputation penalty?)
  • Stalk senpai (to potentially let the player learn more about him and *MAYBE* give a fuck about him)
  • Do errands for info-chan (that don't involve panty shots) for exclusive rewards, or to unlock more services
Y'know... add more gameplay mechanics? Something? Anything? No? Too much work. Just give the police a magic sci-fi device that can do a forensic investigation in a matter of minutes and then call it a day.
With the game as is he's sure to surpass Mike Z any day now. :story:

(:offtopic:, I know this was discussed a few pages ago but I'm just catching up.)

EDIT: I had a :optimistic:/:autism: moment there and completely forgot that the game is 8GB rn and runs like dogshit. I was thinking he could've used the old town he had implemented for a while but if he even attempts to add anything more we're gonna need a goddamn super computer to run the game. (:_(

I'm surprised he hasn't yet said anything about a "prison escape" segment, and give some autistic explanation on how she would somehow get back to school and keep attending like nothing happened. Because as we know, anything can happen in Alex's universe.
We'd have to hold a funeral for the framerate if something like that were implemented.

EDIT: I'm actually afraid of what kind of prison Alex would make if he were to actually do this.

Well, if its any consolation, it runs like shit regardless of specs, its not a hardware thing. I've seen people complain about not being able to hit 30fps with rigs that can run triple A titles at 60fps on max settings.

Its all Alex's shit programming, and how poorly optimized the game is, even Alex himself has posted developmental screenshots on reddit of him getting sub20 frame rates and he's the goddamn developer.

Some have even said that it seems to run worse on better systems, like Alex is only developing for Intel Integrated Graphics rather than AMD and Nvidia dedicated gpus, which is hilariously lulzy. He really knows his 12-year-old-on-parent's-old-computer fanbase.

Oh damn, not just a profiler screenshot but a profiler screenshot showing exactly what I wanted to see. That’s pretty much a smoking gun. The game is taking so much time doing the math on how to render stuff you can’t even see that the GPU is getting stuck waiting for it to finish and lagging the whole game.

If he turned occlusion back on basically all of that bright green (and orange in the GPU row) would disappear and the game would probably hit 60fps easily even on midrange hardware.
