Pretty much this. Tinybuild was his best bet for a quality version of the game to come out. Keeping in mind the dude is still using basic (stolen? I forget) unity (I also forget the engine he's using) models and assets. The guy has yet to make a single quality thing himself. They style and look of the game is going to be that because he's too lazy to get someone to make real assets for him. Like, real talk, who's going to do all this for him? Most independent help has walked away from the project. After Tinybuild, I doubt any other developer is going to want to help. The project has been slowly losing public interest. The only thing he can do is shit out this game in 3 years and everyone will trash it.Way I see it, there are really only 2 options.
1) Game comes out, it's awful. Alex get's shit on.
2) Game doesn't come out. Alex get's shit on.
I wouldn't even be mad at the latter to be honest, he could at any point just cancel the game and be done with it, that happens often in indie development, but with him pocketing hundreds of thousands in patreon bucks, that makes all the difference, suddenly its not just an overly ambitious project that failed, it would then be an overly ambitious scam that succeeded.
