Wow! For once when Alex is talking about why Osana isn't out yet in a public medium he didn't mention the "trolls" or the "haters." Maybe it's finally gotten through his thick lolcow skull that REE-ing at the "gremlins" and blaming others for your incompetence only makes you look even worse?

EDIT - I'm an idiot, he linked his Valentine's suicide day Tweet in the blog post

What a surprise, no Osana.
For the past few years, there was always something else that took priority over Osana; putting more students in the school, making the students react to blood, implementing a save/load feature, etc.

Yeah sure dude, before the game had a functional save/load feature you were writing paragraphs of lore about an in-game anime ripoff of Madoka.

And just like that Alex continues to make a fool of himself and with these new "student names" and "nicknames" proves he doesn't have an original thought in his body and finally made his ripping off blatant.

I'm not really active in this thread, but that is not new at all. It must've been at least two years since he first talked about his Scooby Doo ripoffs (who I have no idea what they're doing in the game to begin with), or even more.

Fixed bug that prevented long sharp weapons from spilling blood.

This wasn't even a bug, it was a logical error that resulted from a feature Alex implemented on purpose.

From the June 15th Update

Short weapons (like knives) can be concealed, so that the player can transport weapons in secrecy. However, long weapons (like baseball bats) cannot be concealed. For years, this meant that long weapons were objectively inferior to short weapons, and that there was no reason to use long weapons.

To give the player incentive to use more than one weapon type, long weapons were given an advantage; victims killed by a long weapon would not leave blood pools. However, this made long weapons too overpowered; it removed all incentive to use short weapons.

To balance the advantages/disadvantages of both weapon times, non-concealable weapons are now 5x more suspicious than concealable weapons; this means that students will notice you carrying long weapons and become alarmed 5x as quickly. This means that the player needs to be very careful and stealthy when carrying around a long weapon, or else their reputation will get annihilated quickly.

Did he just forget he implemented this, or did he realize how stupid the idea of a katana not leaving a pool of blood behind was, changed it back to how it used to work, and try to play it off like it was a bug?

What always confused me about Alex's code is that he doesn't seem to understand the SOLID principles of object-oriented programming, especially the single-responsibility principle.
That gigantic update function can be trimmed down quite a bit (in terms of line count) by defining the statements that should be executed for each circumstance as their own function and then just calling it where it "used to be" in the actual update function. Right now the update function holds all the information necessary to make the students act the way he wants them to, but he really should be breaking it down into separate functions that each have one sole purpose. It would make it a lot easier for him to debug his code. They teach this shit in introduction to programming classes in college, so why does he not know this?

We're talking about a guy who can't do his own animations despite having an animation degree. He clearly half-assed college and I wouldn't be surprised if there was bribery going on as well.

Considering his extremely arrogant 'my way or the highway >:(' attitude with volunteers and TinyBuild, I think he managed to convince himself that he didn't need to practice everything that he learned. Seriously, go back to Scratch, loser.

Alex strawmanning criticism of any kind, yet again. He posted this today in his Discord.

I'd wager this is the kind of thing we can expect in Hate and Shame 2.
Imagine making a flowchart to demonstrate your inability to take criticism of any kind while pretending it's the other person's fault, or taking the time out of your day (time better spent making progress on the game) to make the flowchart to (poorly) respond to criticism. Not that this is anything new, if it was then we wouldn't be here now in a nearly 1,900 page thread discussing him and his bullshit.

It consistently amazes me that Alex never once thinks to shut off the goddamn internet. He's so obsessed with himself that he literally cannot stay away from the drama channels making fun of him even at the behest of everyone paying him tens of thousands of dollars a year to do nothing.

Nigga just close Twitter. Who gives a shit?

Yeah, it's not like one guy criticized him in that way and got banned from his discord anyway, because he "didn't praise him in his message".

Alex seems to only respond to criticism when it's easy to fix. Weapons are unbalanced? Sure, he'll at least attempt to fix that. Inconsistent artystyle with models? Fine, he'll change it in the final game.

And then there's this absolute bullshit going on with his bodyguard Mary Sue. It's so blatantly obvious how much she destroys the design of the game, even when she hasn't even been released yet.

First of all, she can only be eliminated through scripted events. Remember how he said that defeating rivals should feel organic? Well, all of that goes out the window, since you basically have to do fucking chores just to make Osana vulnerable.

Furthermore, she is going to be a nightmare for new players to deal with. Why can't you speak to her? Why doesn't she respond to distractions? Why isn't she vulnerable to bucket traps? Alex created dozens of game mechanics for the player to use, and then subsequently trivialized those mechanics by making his characters artificially immune to them.

Finally, her presence is basically an excuse for Alex to spend less time on actually designing his game. Instead of carefully designing each student's routine so that Osana is always being watched, he can just have Raibaru follow Osana the entire time. Osana's routine has already been leaked, and it is not well designed at all. She is RARELY ever around other students.

Now, trying to fix this mess is probably going to take a rather long time for him. He has to redesign a few student routines so that Osana is constantly being watched. He can make it actually possible to manipulate Raibaru with the game's mechanics, so that players can actually take advantage of the features he spent way too much time adding. There's no way he's going to bother putting in the effort to do all this, especially if it means admitting that he was wrong.
