Any of you guys ever watched this? I heard it's underrated and all that. Your opinions, please.

I have indeed watched it multiple times, and yes it is underrated and possibly the finest film Paul Wes "raper of resident evil" Anderson has ever made (and I know, that aint saying much). In fact I was thinking of making a thread solely dedicated to such underrated films including this one.

Here are the pros and Cons of the film.

Pros
- Ensamble cast (Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Jason Isaacs, Sean Pertwee) who are all entertaining
- Good production values
- relatively unique (or at least underused) spin on the whole "space horror" thing, and an extremely lovecraftian one at that (with some claiming it is basically a distant prequel to Warhammer 40k, probabaly the most grimdark setting in fiction)
- Does not hold back on the gore which flows freely in all directions (and this is the heavily cut version, the "uncut" version long thought to be lost was recovered last year and promised to be delivered)
- Good horror atmosphere (it was one of the inspirations for the original dead space and it shows)
- Some Awesome (if occasionally cheesy) lines

Cons
- Everyone who is not listed in the "ensamble class" is decidedly irritating and /or tedious (to the point where you just kind of zone out when the camera isnt on Fishbourne)
- Some of the cgi has not aged well
- Some of the music is crap
- Some of the "homages" to other horror flms are a bit too blatent
- Very, very cliched, which gets increasingly clear through the last 20 minutes

Fixed.

But yeah, I'm surprised it was made by this same asshole. But I guess I'll give it a go.

Aye its worth ago, I rather like it because im a sucker for anything in that area of genres, but as a bog standard sci-fi horror flick its perfectly acceptable

I've watched a lot of horror movies...and for some reason this one is the one that scared the ever-loving shit out of me, and still does. I can't even justify why. I've watched and been fine with plenty of other movies that are a lot worse...but this one is just a bastard to get over for me.
