Barb may be out of it from time to time, but she created her own monster. She's a classic narcissistic mother, and she passed these traits to Chris. Everything Chris is now is just a reflection of her. She may have even encouraged it and is now throwing her autistic son under the bus to make herself look better. Especially now that it's all out in the open, she may even claim rape when she partially instigated it. She's proven she only really cares for herself, and the horde.

Barb may have created the monster, but she's still a senile elderly woman who has rights that she's entitled to.
