Cue the surprise, it's a trans lesbienne. By this point I am taking any claims of lesbianism with a grain of salt, since it's hard to tell the trendy lesbiennes from the real deal.

Seriously, people calling female characters who have shown clear interest in guys 'lesbians' is dumb and annoying. It has been said before but just use bisexual. A girl isn't invalid or icky or less likable if she can also be attracted to guys, and calling these characters 'lesbian' makes the label lose meaning. The lesbian side of tumblr is so frustrating.

That fashion style is called "the early 90's."

A lot of women dressed like that. Amazingly, not all of them were lesbians. It just looks gay now to modern eyes.

They got the idea that any vintage fashion style = ultra lesbienne since it's sharply dressed by modern standards.
 
This thread reminds me of when Samurai Jack had a fifth season in March of last year, and Tumblr desperately wanted Ashi and the Scotsman's daughter to be lesbians, but when Jashi became canon, all hell broke loose, and here's some proof below:

now just replace "straight" with "gay" or "lesbian" and the entirety of tumblr would literally have a fucking heart attack. I have nothing against anyone in the LGBT community whatsoever, but I just dislike the Tumblr-tier LGBT community that acts like their sexual orientation is the only determining factor in their personality and everything wrong with the world is all because of The Straights™.

I'd guess it's part bc now the 90s is gonna be the "fashion" decade, like how currently everybody's going nuts for the 80s, and the 90s was also the first time gays were getting mainstream and also getting positive treatment from people (after the AIDS fear of the 80s), so I'd guess it's that.
