I met an FtM transman when I was in college, well over a decade ago. Honestly couldn't tell until he mentioned it in passing. Apparently he transitioned early and did really well. Very chill, very normal.
I've since heard another one of my college friends is MtF--she came out will into her 30s. The jury is still out, since what I hear I have to view through the lens of social media. But she's still with her wife, and they're doing their best to be good parents to their kid. So, that's something.
I've only met one IRL once. I didn't really talk to him much, but he seemed okay. I've met more than a few online though and only one of them was cool and not batshit crazy.
I'd like to believe that majority of trans people are completely fine. Its hard to though when the loudest ones are the craziest.
A few months back I found out my best friend from middle school is a transgirl now. Although she has a tumblr, it's mostly just reblogged memes. Nothing that would imply she's on the dark side. We texted back and forth one night to catch up and she's just as chill as when I knew her.
She told me she actually started feeling trans around the time I knew her and that she's out to her friends and family. She seemed to be doing fine other than some trouble dating.
I been tryin' to find opportunity to actually visit with her. Be just like old times, except I get to be chauvinistic now.
Internet trannies are crazy , selfish and toxic fuck ups. Actual trans folks are normally okay. Just like any subculture, the internet side is awful, the ones tipu meet in daily life are cool. There's a lesson here.
As far as meeting a transsexual IRL, there is a weeb friend of mine. Said weeb friend is as normal people can be IRL. He (I use he because he told me he doesn't really care much for pronouns) isn't a terrible person as far as I know. Never heard him use any SJW buzzwords and when it came to SJW's, he said he didn't like them due to hypocrisy they can display. He does get some shit for being trans thanks to how his parents and brothers feel about it but beyond that, he's more or less a decent average person as far as I know.
Really, as far as meeting a trans person goes, meeting one IRL can be very different since on the internet you are bound to meet crazier people.
One of my friends started transitioning recently, and I guess we've gotten closer (for unrrelated reasons) since then even though I'm a "TERF", I guess. I guess when I heard they were transitioning, I had heard a lot of horror stories, so I figured they must have fit into one of them. It seems like they're not crazy about all of "trans culture" and seems like they respect my opinion. Unlike with a lot of trannies, they actually look pretty feminine, and HRT has done a lot to improve their look. They also have a pretty un-masculine personality unlike some of these super aggro manchildren featured here.
I think it's made me reconsider if transitioning could help people. I feel like I've been a good, "supportive" friend, and have offered to help with clothes and makeup to the best of my ability. However, I'm never going to see them as a women, ever. Personally to me, gender is so much more than personal identity.
And also, after hearing about a situation where they got a boner and wanted to be humiliated after wearing a dress, I'm pretty sure they're just a sissy.
There's a MTF that works at a local theater I frequent. Admittedly, they don't really pass too well, but they seem like a very nice person every time I have to go up to the front desk to ask a question or to check on my frequent customer reward perks. Not sure what they're like outside of that, but it's none of my business.
I also met a FTM once and they were pretty cool. They managed to pass pretty well, but then again, majority of FTMs tend to pass better than MTFs.

Pretty much this. Although as far as subcultures go... furries and weeaboos are still pretty bad no matter if they're online or offline. (There's a reason why I don't go to anime conventions anymore, but that's for another thread)

Eh, thats because either it it started out on the internet as a group of crazy shut ins(furries) the internet side took over and it became ubiquitous because no adult with any social skills would want to be associated with Shonin Rape Princess XI(animes)
First tranny I ever knew was a tard kid from high school/primary school, and sort of a lolcalf. I'm not sure if we can count her properly, but for most of the time I knew her, she was a tranny. She had the creepy autism stare, and wasn't real good with personal hygiene according to friends of mine in those upper grades. She was in the year above me during primary school, however, at the end of it she fucked off interstate till I was in my second last year of high school. That's when she returned, and was put into our grade because our state education system is like, behind everyone else' or something. Either way, she began calling herself "Julio" and began to go FTM.
She'd tell people to call her Julio, and use male pronouns, but the teachers would always call her Julia [her real name], and refer to her with female pronouns. I never hung out with her, so I didn't know if she crossdressed, but she half arsed it at school. She'd wear the girls blouse, but would wear the boys long pants. She also went to town on her hair, and looked like a bull dyke. As far as I know, she wasn't too into tumblr, but her FB was a mess. She's like, some kind of fundie, and posted shit about how hard it is to be Christian in this day and age, and how being trans doesn't mean God doesn't hate you. That, and the obnoxious shit, like "Comment your fourth most used emoji to describe your reaction to x situation".
IRL I still talked to her, we shared homeroom, which was about ten minutes of the day. We'd exchange pleasentries, but that'd all change. During our last year of school, she began to hit on people like a bad PUA. According to my best friend, she'd solicited him twice for sex. Which was a huge WTF for us. I actually didn't believe it, but it wasn't long till she started making moves on me. Though making moves would be a kind term for it.
Basically, out of the blue she PM's me on Facebook, and it went a little like this:
Julio: Hey.
Piett: Hey.
Julio: I was wondering if you could help me with something. I think we'd be both helping each other really.
Piett: Sure, what with?
Julio: Do you want to have sex with me?
Piett: What?
Julio: It's not technically gay, cos I have a vagina.
Anyways, I blocked her and never spoke to her again. I told some guys about it, and this is when I'd discovered she'd asked about twenty plus guys to give her the fuck. She'd also been asking people to go to formal [Aussie Prom], and got real pissy with them when they declines. She asked a good friend of mine, and when he declined, she said something along the lines of "Well, it's not my fault you wanna die alone."
This all occured in March-April of that year, and Julio made herself a social outcast. I think she everntally stopped transitioning towards the end of the school year. She eventually got a BF, a real seedy basement dweller with a pedostache. Last I saw her was at formal with him, she was wearing a dress and shit.
oh wow it must be excruciating! Fuck people who are starving every single day, people who are abused by their families during their entire childhoods or girls who are raped periodically by the same people in places like India and can do nothing about it! Julay really got it hard, poor thing, with all those other church-going people there for moral, financial and emotional support and everything about her just screaming "I'm a Christian, mess with me" to everybody she passes by in the street 24 hours per day! What a curse!
Tard rage aside, I feel you man - out of all the times a girl literally messaging you flat-out asking for sex would be a dream come true, it has to be the tranny autistic (christian) person instead...
Two years ago I was at a party and there was a MtF tranny there and she was sort of into me for whatever reason. We ended up having sex and attempted dating each other, but didn't really work out.

I know. And it was such a WTF thing as well. Like we talked a few times week, said hello. Autism is a helluva drug.
Also, I was talking to the friend who was also solicited by the tard, and he had some more gossip. He did drama with her, and story goes that on the bus to one of the performances they're watching for an assesment piece. He says they caught her watching honest to God pornhub on the bus. That, and she'd perv on people whenever they were changing.
