I kind of assumed they kept some sort of logs around, given the nature of their website. The excuse of "make roleplaying across multiple devices easier" is so weak and obviously a lie it's honestly hilarious they thought anyone was gonna buy it. They would probably have had a lot less pushback if they just said "Law Enforcement recommended we do this as a way to help the site comply with possible investigations" or something.

My understanding is that everything on the site itself (guestbook posts, notes, profile content, forum/group posts, news post comments, etc) are all stored on the site normally, but messages in the chat client are stored locally on each user's PC. I have heard people complain about that insofar as it means changing devices means losing your old chat logs, but most people who actually care about retaining logs have backups of them anyway, and the chat client allows you to download your logs.

I really can't see why they're making this decision other than to comply with some sort of legal notice. Surely it must be safer for them to say "sorry, we can't hand over chat logs because our chat client doesn't save them" and they're just being pressured into making changes that would make relinquishing logs possible. Either way, I anticipate that, if these changes go through, their security is going to get a very unpleasant trial by fire from places like the sharty.

I have come to resurrect this thread!

Important information for the degenerates:
Role playing as Jeffery Epstein or any of the guests of Little St.James Island is not allowed!
Hello F-Listians,

Effective immediately, we will be disallowing profiles and public roleplay to be based on any information or persons involved in the Epstein Files. This will be a temporary measure, and it’s a decision we don’t make lightly. The prohibition on this content will be lifted at some point in the future. (A proper rule will be put in place at that time. The scope of said rule will be determined).

This will apply to all profiles and roleplay based on confirmed or alleged perpetrators named in the files.
It applies to all confirmed or alleged victims named in the files.
It applies to all scenarios about or alluding to any content related to the files. In other words, don’t make a profile based on rich people bringing kids to an island, or any other circumstance to try and circumvent this rule.

What should you do?
If you have any profiles related to the above, you should remove them until such time that this temporary rule is lifted.

What shouldn’t you do?
You shouldn’t use this rule as a reason to intentionally look for and mass report profiles. This can be considered an abuse of site tools.

Can you still discuss the files OOCly?
Yes, but as with any political topics, it should remain confined to private channels where politics is allowed, or done in PMs.

Can you still play as “THIS” person?
If said person is named, alleged, or otherwise alluded to as a perpetrator or a victim in the files or adjacently, then no.

We realize that this is a departure from the way we normally allow freedom of content and expression. Again, this isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly. It’s a real-world event that’s continuing to evolve on a daily basis.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with this.
Note this this rule is temporary.
